Default Some AVI files play with no audio on PS3

For some reason, some of my AVI files play fine on the computer, but then I try to watch them through the PS3, and the video plays, but I get absolutely no sound. Other, similar files, with the same codecs, play fine, it almost seems completely random which ones don't work. Does anybody know what causes this?

Highly suggest you convert them to mp4 before loading them. This works quite well:

Be sure to choose Safe Sync when converted if using on a PS3 (which you are).

Are you streaming them to the ps3 through WMP sharing?

Why I ask is that i've noticed that sometime when these files wont play the audio or there are codec issues they seem to play fine when you connect them directly to the ps3 and play them, ie. usb stick or something.

Its odd as I thought it might of been a WMP problem but the 360 plays them fine so Ive come to the conclusion that mixed with the shitty caching of the PS3 streaming the PS3 isnt the greatest media streaming device out there.

No, I've been burning them to disc, haven't setup streaming yet, hope to try that soon.

I've heard of MP3s that work when you play them on the PC but if you burn them to a disc and play another device they sound screwed up. It's more than likely piracy protection.
