    Hello everyone,

So far the plan is to have the after party per tradition at the Plaza Hotel. One thing we can iron out right now by voting is where in the hotel. Some favor a hotel room while others favor having the after party right on the show floor like we did a previous year. So let's hear it everyone, who would like the after party to be held in a hotel room? And who would like the after party to be held on the show floor? The after party will take place immediately following the auction Saturday night with beer and pizza/food ready right as everyone arrives.

I still plan on reaching out to Insert Coins for some kind of cross promotion or even sponsorship of the after party. Also, I'm currently reviewing this entire Thread to see what everyone has committed to bring and ideas we want to incorporate. Once I have all this noted, I'll make a post here for everyone to leave their feedback in regards to what is the final plans are for the after party. Thanks everyone! This after party is going to kick some major ass! Like Contra, that's how kick ass!

Let's start the Poll here to save forum space. However, if I don't see a lot of response to the Poll here then I will create a new Thread for the poll for more exposure. So far the show floor is winning! Let's keep those votes coming in. Thanks everyone!

    Default Vs

Vs show floor as it's unfair to the vendors for security and too big and bright a space, not good for party atmosphere. Needs to be dark with multiplayer games.

Not sure how big these hotel rooms are, but unless it's held in a decent size suite/multiple rooms close then I do not see how lots of people are going to fit in a single room comfortably. Is there another room/area in the hotel this could be done?

I'd vote room/suite -- in 2005, that's what we did and it was big enough and intimate enough to feel like a home party. on the other hand, if we're a lot of people, maybe it'd be better on the show room, but in an area that would be separated from the vendors (for instance, whichever room is used for the keynotes)?

I vote show floor. In a room we would probably have security called.

Show floor had access to arcade machines during party last time. That was greatness.

I will be honest, if it is in a room/suite, I won't be bringing my rock band setup. I can still bring my 360 for some classic gaming (I have a bunch of classic games through live). It would just seem like a massive hassle to lug all that shit around and then put it into a hotel room

A couple of CGEs ago it was in a room overlooking the show floor, but not a hotel room or the show floor.

Frankly I think the party on the show floor previously was not a success. It was nice to play some games, but no matter how many people you have at the part, a giant brightly lit area of the show floor will never seem like a party. I remember a few gatherings of people chatting, a few people gaming, and a lot of people sticking their heads in and leaving. Plus the show floor presents security issues for the vendors.

I would say a large room, not a hotel room, would best. I know it may not be feasible, but it is something to aim for.

This. If you are going to put vendor's items at risk of being stolen, at a minumum, you need to contact all of them and make sure that they know a party is going to be held so that they can plan to pack up everything and take it with them when they are done for the day. I suspect more than a few won't be too pleased with this possibility.

A room would make it seem more like an actual party, and allow people to loosen up more.

Hotel rooms not enough space, too enclosed.

I support a non-hotel (non sleeping type) room in the hotel, something like 1000+ sq ft of open space, with many tables, multiplayer console setups with chairs and multiplayer games, rock band (3 mics, full band with someone's song library would be awesome- I could bring my library and RB3), loud music, low light, food, BYOB or supplied booze with optional contribution. BYOB safer for having minors around, perhaps less liability. Perhaps even some activities, like elimination Chu Chu Rocket rounds or Mario Kart rounds.

    Hey everyone,

Thanks for providing your feedback! You all have very valid points and no matter were we have the after party there will be pros and cons sadly! Lady Jaye made a great suggestion about having the after party in a separate room like the Keynote room. I believe, we usually have the auction in the Keynote room so we wouldn't have ample time to get the after party started right away following the auction. I will confirm this though and see what spacious rooms we have to work with. Hell we could probably even use the Swap Meet room and roll in some TVs to get our Rockband and party on! Keep the suggestions coming, we are nearing a final decision for the after party location in the hotel. Thanks everyone!

The keynote room sounds great for a party. I bet we could get something going in less than 20 min if we are prepared to transform. And if you want more people, you could announce after the auction 'party here in 20 min'. people could go get their refreshments, take a piss and come back.

I hope we can get some non ceiling lighting going! Think dance club dark. We should try to get a checklist of what systems and games (With the right number of controllers) we should have at the party. Like:

TG16 with tap and 4 controllers and Bomberman
Dreamcast with 4 controllers and Chu Chu Rocket and SF Rush 2049 (combat modes are fun!)
Super NES with tap and 4 controllers and Mario Kart

    etc

That cge party with that balcony room overlooking the show floor was badass but no idea is that kinda setup exists at the Station.

    Hey everyone,

    Quick update!

I touched based with Joe in regards to the side rooms that we can use for the after party, we have to confirm with John which room we can use but one thing is for certain at this point, we will NOT be hosting the after party on the show floor. It worked on a whim in the past and having the arcade machines nearby is awesome but now with having a separate room like say possibly the keynote room, it will be a lot more personable like years past in a room or suite and we will have the space. Hang in there everyone, I will have the final location of the after party here soon!

ianoid I like your suggestion and it could very well work out great!!!
