Japanese Gunstar Heroes with model 1 Genesis

Thread title says it all. This game has a regional lockout, displaying a message that it was designed for NTSC and PAL Mega Drive, leaving Genesis in the dark.

On the forum I found a thread that offers a very well-done document for region-bypassing Game Genie codes. It had the following for Gunstar Heroes:

AABT-AR5R (Master Code)
AACA-AR6T
AACA-AN62

I get no results. I just see a solid black screen and all I can do is power the console off and reboot to get back to the Game Genie code editor.

I was wondering if anyone has successfully loaded this game on a Genesis with the above, or any other, codes? If not, then I'm going to hang onto my Genesis version of the game for a little while longer until I own an actual Mega Drive...

Try entering just the first line or two. YuuYuu Hakusho does the same thing with one of the code variants.

Using this code all by itself seems to do the trick! Game runs perfectly. Thanks for the tip; didn't think testing all combinations of the 3 codes would lead to a working solution, hehe.

How come there are three, then? Maybe different models of the Genesis call for the different codes? Can't think of any other reason...

That's what I think. The code maker probably used software that emulated a certain version of the console. There are probably little differences here and there among system revisions.
