Default NES Bubble Bobble part 2 box art variation?

I'm trying to figure out what the deal is with the different colour on these two boxes. One has green on the bottom. The other blue. I figured one might be PAL or something, but both are made to be used in USA, Canada, Mexico as it claims on the side of the box.

Anybody know anything about this? Much appreciated.

I did notice the fading, but didn't think it would actually change the color. It actually looks naturally blue. The cart and instructions are both identical. Only the box looked different, so I imagine the sun is indeed to blame.

That's a shame as Bubble Bobble 2's box is ass overpriced.

Just to say something different, I think it is Moon fade!

Yellow and blue makes green...I guess that the blue ink was more UV safe than the yellow.

That's just silly. Although it does stand to reason that if sunlight can fade the colors then maybe moonlight can reverse the process.

Cyan (blue) ink is more UV proof because in printing it is the closest to being a "Pure" color. Meaning that there are more pigments and other items mixed in to MYK than C.

I took a class in design school about this once and now work in a print shop. However I am no expert, discuss amongst yourselfs!

Because it's sunfaded you can you can keep them in your collection as the Bubble Bobble 2 Bub version and the Bubble Bobble 2 Bob version. Except that Bob is also up top. That wouldn't work . Nevermind.
Everything in the above post is opinion unless stated otherwise.
