do you all think world of warcraft is dying or growing still?
Growing. And your post is a serious contender in the Worst Thread Title competition.
Yes.
The numbers are growing, but I can see it declining in the US in the next year or so. Overseas, there are different subscription models for internet cafes, so the number of accounts is getting hyper-inflated.
This is about where you start working on a sequel, while it still has the chance of besting its predecessor. Let it go too long, and it dies a slow death and people lose interest.
He's started tons of pointless topics already. :\
I think this seems like a legitimate topic, there's no reason not to take it seriously (although it is technically in the wrong forum).
I think World of Warcraft will still see some gains in the number of users, but the overall popularity has peaked. While it will still be around for awhile, I have to think that a new Warcraft MMO is already being planned/developed at Blizzard.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

Blizz has already stated that the unnanounced MMO they are working on is based on a new ip they are creating and not wow 2.
I don't see much topping wow until Blizz does so themselves with their next MMO. The new Star Wars game might come closer than any other mmo's have come but EA's track record so far with MMOs shows they have no clue what they are doing.
Even with the new Blizz mmo coming Wow will keep going though by that time it probably will be free to play.
Should be interesting what this new MMO will be. I wonder what genre the game will be but I'm hoping it'll be sword and sorcery fantasy based.
The Old Republic MMO will definitely steal some of WoW's thunder, mostly because of the masses of Star Wars geeks out there. Is EA co-publishing this with LucasArts? I know they own Bioware and all but I figured LucasArts just paid them to hire the team.I don't see much topping wow until Blizz does so themselves with their next MMO. I doubt that. In fact, I highly doubt that. Kotick and Activision would NEVER allow that to happen, they'll bleed every last red cent out of the game until the servers for it are shut down.Even with the new Blizz mmo coming Wow will keep going though by that time it probably will be free to play.
"Ai Oboete Imasu Ka?"
Well personally, I derp the herp while playing so it can be said that tiddley too der derp and also hurrrr durrrrrr the game.
Since there isn't any competition, WOW still remains at the top. Only way WOW in decline if
1. Blow up Blizzard Headquarter
2. Offer porno MMORPG
3. Offer user crack to go with the game
4. Offer lots of pretty women to go with the game

I agree with the poster who said that popularity will probably be declining over the next few years in the US. I teach high school, and the kids state that they are just not interested in it. Most are not PC gamers to begin with (they sure do love their 360 though!). It is almost embarrassing for kids to admit they play it....
I guess if you don't have young people jumping on board, membership will trend downward...
