Does anyone collect video game Ads

mebbe i'm the only one, but doubtful. I was just wondering if people out there collect video game ads. I have a whole box full of supernes and nes adds i have been accumulting from old comics and gamepros/egms and what not for the past year. I mainly collect the NES adds. The best place to find the nes adds are from old comic books from te 80s. I have some pretty ill double dragon and konami ads along with some camerica ads just to name few. I used to laminate them... but methinks i am not going to do that anymore and that I will just slide them into sleaves. What got me started was when i saw an add for final fantasy three (us ff3). just curious to know if i was the only one.

I never thought about doing that but some game ads are put together quite well IMO.

I've got a couple of Odyssey 2 sell sheets, a big beautiful poster for Sega's 1982 Star Trek coin-op, and a sell sheet for my all-time personal favorite arcade machine, Fantasy. I'd like to have a few more sell sheets, as they're easily framed and don't take up much space, but as with many things it comes down to money. If money will buy me games or buy me items-somewhat-related-to-games, then 99 times out of 100 I'll go for games, not the peripheral stuff.

A sell-sheet is typically a full-color, double-sided ad aimed primarily at arcade operators (for coin-ops) or purchasing agents for stores carrying home console games (in the case of the Odyssey stuff). You can see the sell sheet for Fantasy here if you like.

I also collect sell-sheets, but I've never heard them called that. I've always heard them called one-sheets cause they're typically one page, often front only but sometimes front and back or gatefold. I collect modern ones, but no arcade ones yet (those are SPENDY usually). I also collect Japanese ones, which are really hard to get, but I have a couple (one for Sylphia, one for Snatcher, and one for Shin Megami Tensei). Two of those I had framed and put on my wall.

If you order direct from Working Designs or Atlus, they include one-sheets of their up and coming games along with your orders I have a bunch from each, as well as a few random ones (some from Playmore/Neo Geo) and a few others. They're a LOT harder to find than games, and almost no one collects em.

I've never done that though I do scan NES ads and put them up on my website for others to view.

if any body wants them i have tons of ads for atari and coleco... i would just have to go through some old beat up comic books and take em out. if interested pm me or post on this subject and i will get back to you.

I collect game ads fairly seriously. Anytime I'm out thrifting and find an old magazine or comic that has game ads in it, I'll pick it up. If the mag is valueless, I'll cut out the ads and stick them in plastic sheet protectors I keep in a big three-ring Atari binder. I'm really anal about it... I label each ad with with what magazine, issue, and date I found it in. I also save game-related classified ads or pictures from those old "junior sales" programs where kids were recruited to sell things like GRIT newspapers in return for valuable prizes. :)

Sometimes I buy flyers and one-sheets off eBay too. I have an Astrocade brochure, several O2 one-sheets (scans available here), and a few coin-op ads too.

Comics are great for ads. The Boy Scouts magazine "Boys' Life" is even better since most ads were printed on better paper.

I attended the 89-90 Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas and have a few of the booth sheets for NES games...will have to dig them out and see what I have. The Keeper

I love vg ads...but i don´t have a lot, except for the magazines...

so does that mean if you are in argentina that you have videogame ads in spanish? that is very interesting? do you have any NES ads en espanol?

I don't have a scanner, but I have a grip of supernes ads. I could take pictures of them if ya wanted?

If the picture is clear, then by all means. You don't have to go out of your way to do it, though.

No worries by me, I was going to photograph them anywhat and have them in my nes file online along with all the images of my games. i'll let you know.
