A neat 3DS trick to play DS games.

If this was posted before I apologize, but on the 3DS hold Start or Select and choose to start the original DS game. it puts the Game in its native resolution but the downside is it doesn't take up the whole screens, so it looks small and awkward with black borders but the games aren't blurry. Is there any other 3DS tricks like this?

If you hold L+R at the same time, it will open up a mode where it displays original DS games in 3D.

No additional graphic enhancement, but still cool.



I've also heard that somewhere on the console, is an unlockable version of the original Battletoads.

It's just a parallax display, it should be able to display anything.

Seriously, though, I played a Namco Museum DS game on my 3DS the other day, and it displayed it just fine. There was no screen stretching, just empty spaces on the sides of the screen, and I didn't have to do anything in particular. I don't know what all the fuss is about DS games not displaying properly.

If you just start a DS game on the 3DS without holding start or select it will look blurred and what not. Like I said holding start or select will cause the 3DS to load the DS game in it's native resolution making it look better but it wont take up all of the screen. I mean both screens not just the top. So apparently more people knew about this than I thought.

note: Nintendo ds/nintendo dsi titles have a lower screen resolution than
nintendo 3ds software and are stretched to fit the nintendo 3ds screen.
For these titles, hold down start or select while tapping the menu icon to
display the game at their original screen size ratio.
