Default Tomb Raider Legend & Anniversary PS3 vs. 360

"Tomb Raider Trilogy" was released last month for PS3, containing Tomb Raider Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld. The former two were not originally released for PS3. On Wikipedia it says that the Trilogy contains "the PlayStation 2 versions of Legend and Anniversary remastered in high definition". Is this accurate? Why would they specifically take the PS2 version and improve the resolution, instead of porting over from PC or 360? The differences weren't vast but the latter versions did have higher poly counts, better lighting, etc.

I have played Legends and Anniversary on the 360 and honestly, aside from the resolution boost, don't see it as much better than the original Xbox Legends graphics engine. The PS2 game would need all of the textures upgraded though, there was an old Game Trailers comparison video that showed the differences in Legends.

On a slight side note, and to avoid starting another thread, I am working on a Tomb Raider 1 video and hit a snag. I have Dosbox running vanilla Tomb Raider and an enhanced 3dfx version just fine. When I start Fraps (full latest version) to record them the framerates drop into the teens, the music dies and my dual core 3400+ rated CPU spikes. I have tried all of the different output renderers Dosbox has available for Vanilla Tomb Raider and had minimal improvements.

Has anybody had any success capturing Tomb Raider for PC at a decent framerate? I know there are at least two high level shells for Tomb Raider, but I wanted to capture it as close to original and TR Gold quality as possible.

    -edit-

I didn't realize I had upgraded Fraps down to a trial version. Fixed that and the framerates became acceptable again.

The XBOX360 game wasn't much better than the PS2 version anyway. The PC version is where it's at.

I've just found that a few sources state that the Tomb Raider games on Xbox 360, all of them, run at only 576p. Presumably Legend and Anniversary "remastered in high definition" on PS3 run at 720p, as the PS3 version of Underworld does. That's good to know. But I still wonder about the character models, animation, objects in the environment, etc.

I was under the impression that the 360 version of Legend was only a slight upgrade, but Anniversary was more substantial. However Legend does have "next-gen effects", which are optional in the PC version. I'm not sure what effects, exactly, that refers to.

Now, now. The PSone games (and Angel of Darkness) are admittedly very tired today but TR1 was SO COOL back in 1996. I'd never seen anything like it. Me and my roommates just started at the TV in amazement. We played it for weeks.

I liked underworld. Some of the things she was doing EX (heightwise) brought a sense of fear and danger. IMO
