    Default Jvc x'eye no bios!

So just yesterday i got the jvc out of my closet and played a new sega cd game i got at a local game shop. Worked fine, played for a couple of hours. went to turn it back on later that night and just a black screen when it powers on. It will play cartridges fine but when powered on with a cd the red light comes on but no green light. Idk if the cd drive motor went bad or what. when i roll the laser back it will power it back into position, so idk i think its getting power to the cd drive. will other drive motors work like out of a ps1 or something cheap? Any ideas? thanx in advance

Maybe. In all honestly, the jvc was plagued by issues. The topic right below you is also about an x'eye with problems.
    Lum fan.

My issue this particular time was an easy fix, and somewhat my fault (I spaced that I had dropped the console a few weeks back, just took this long for the issue to surface so I didn't put 2 and 2 together.

The first thing I need to ask you Joe is, are you using the proper power supply? The JVC or CDX power supply, or one that gives it the juice that it needs? From what people say, that can cause damage. My X'Eye came with a Genesis 2 adapter and now I am using a CDX adapter but it still works. I don't know how long it had been used with a Genesis 2 adapter, but I suspect a while.

No bios screen is a new one. I've heard of disc access and lid switch problems, but the BIOS not booting up is a rare one.

Maybe you can give us more details. These are great consoles but they seem to be finicky.

so am i just checking the capacitors on the smaller daughterboard or also the big mb? none of them look leaky. the only thing i see on the mb is 2 wires soldered across some pins for a mod 2 gen av plug in. It looks hommade anyway. it looks smoked on the bottom of the board. porbably just end up pitchin the thing im gettin pissed off.
