Default Did I buy a bootleg?

I bought a grey ps1 controller off amazon for a good price. Caveat emptor I suppose. Anyway the controller I received just says scph 1200 on the back and is a clear see through shell. As far as I know there were never any dualshocks in clear shells for the ps1 but I could be wrong.

    Is this a bootleg?

EDIT: this thing reeks of cigarette smoke. What's the fastest way to get rid of the smell?

    There were clear Dualshocks.

If the buttons are kinda stiff and hard to push down, it's likely a bootleg.

Also note the START button. If it has sharp edges, it's likely a bootleg.

There are/were a lot of bootleg dualshock controllers floating around, most did not have the Sony logo on the front.
RIP bargora, you will be greatly missed. That is how we do things on Giedion Prime.

Thanks, it's probably fine then. Everything looks legit.

For the smoke smell I've had the best luck wiping things down with warm soapy water (carefully). Then if you can stand to let it air out somewhere, that's good. Otherwise in a box with a dryer sheet helps some. If you are really serious you should take it apart and run the hard plastic pieces through the dishwasher (top shelf) and wash the rest of the stuff as best you can.

I always air out anything that smells like smoke. It usually goes away in a week... but a good cleaning won't hurt.
