That's awesome. For a convention that's five minutes away from me I never seem to attend.

Kinda surprised. There has been one table in the Dealers room thats got a ton of old Sailor Moon stuff. I've half expected to stumble into you there the last two years. NO EXCUSE! 5 minutes away... FOR SHAME!
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

(I'm not the guy that found that Atari but...)

I see this kind of stuff pretty regularly, but I tend to pass over it because it's never really appealed to me. If I see any soon, I'll keep you in mind.

The past few years since moving back to San Jose I've saved up my vacation time and money for California Extreme every year. (actually taking a full two weeks off this year so I can visit my parents on the 4th of July weekend before the show) However to add insult to injury I don't work on the weekends.

Added to that, sadly I really don't care for much anime and manga these days. I'm sure I wouldn't run into too many people who would like to discuss why Future GPX Cyber Formula Zero was the best of the series or who are reading Black Jack right now. Or to argue with me when I let it slip that I like Super Dimension Century Orguss way more than Macross.

Although with Kodansha's in-house re-translation and re-release of the Sailor Moon manga (along with a translation of Codename is Sailor V) in September, I'm sure some of the other old moonies will come out of hiding.

Are you referring to Osamu Tezuka's Black Jack? I looove that series! Unfortunately, I only have the first 3 volumes. I can't afford to get any more right now.

I wish someone would license the two TV series and movie. I doubt it will happen though, because BJ is a niche series over here.

I'm also looking forward to Kodansha's re-release of Sailor Moon and Sailor V. It'll be interesting to compare Kodansha's translation to the old Tokyopop version.

Nothing today but a "character generator" by GE for 50 cents. I think they use these for post production. Here's what it looks like:

It takes three button cell batteries, gotta go out and get some of those...

    Indeed.

If I remember correctly the movie and OVA had a DVD release awhile back, I have most of the OVA and the movie on VHS. Tapes were 6 for $1.00 - the Salvation Army store in Rockridge kicks ass for those in the North / East Bay.

I have a feeling it'll be like night and day. Mixx did a good thing by even attempting a translation but since Sailormoon was like the first thing they ever translated, it never was anything above decent. If you have any good condition translated book form Sailormoon manga, sell it now. I sold my last set (complete minus the 18th and final volume) a couple years ago for $450 on eBay in two hours. Individual issues aren't worth nearly as much but I wouldn't sell mine anyway.

    Back to on topic.......now.

I'm not referring to the OVAs and first movie. There were two TV series released in 2004 and 2007 in Japan. The first one was just called Black Jack, and the second was Black Jack 21. Also, new film entitled Black Jack: The Two Doctors of Darkness was released in December 2005.

There are fan-subs for the two series and the movie, but I'd love to see a legit english release.

I found a Gamemon USB converter for XBox/GC/PS2 at a Goodwill for 50 cents (they sold by weight). Tested the GC and PS2 ports and it works great!

EDIT: This was back in May.
