No sound on Playchoice-10 Cabinet

Hello All! I am a newb in the world of classic gaming cabinets. I was at this guy's house looking at a pooltable he had for sale and he offered me a single-screen Nintendo Playchoice-10 that worked for $50. At first I wasn't going to get it, but my brother said if I didn't get it he was going to. So I ended up getting it.

It's a little rough, but works. The problem is that the sound doesn't work. All that I get is a slight buzzing sound. When I turn the volume control up and down the buzzing will go up and down with the knob. I turned it off, un-plugged it and sprayed the volume adjustment knob and the corresponding board with QD electronics cleaner and still have the same result.

Any ideas what could be wrong? Is there a common problem with these machines that would cause this? How do I go about diagnosing it?

Nice score for $50!

Playchoice 10 machines have an audio board and maybe an amp. I'd start there looking for loose connections and bad fuses. If nothing else, the amp can be rebuilt pretty easily.
