Default Shinobi is Back (Shinobi for 3DS)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFvrzBQjj_I

Being the Shinobi fan that I am, I am pretty excited about this. Sadly, I do not own a 3DS, and probably won't until they cost some $30 ten years from now since I don't really care much about it. But, I'm pretty motivated to get one now.

From what I can see, it's look pretty good. I don't know why it has 3D. It seems unnecessary, especially for a sort of retro reboot.

Anywho, does anyone think this'll be good? Are the guys making it, Griptonite, known to make good games?

Color me cautiously optimistic. Nice. If they get the control right, and don't staple some awful story to it, this could be awesome.

I would be excited, but this is Sega we're talking about. I know better.

Aw man, I love Shinobi. Used to be one of my favorite games on the Sega consoles.

I'll probably never get a 3DS though so I don't think I'll ever get the chance to play this one.

Why 3DS? Because SEGA is an early-adopting company, and handhelds are cheaper for which to develop.

When I saw the title of this thread, I immediately thought of this old TV ad...

Actually, every time I read or hear anything about Shinobi I think about that ad.

SEGA actually returning to an old IP? INCONCIEVABLE!

I'm not a fan of the graphics as they are in that teaser trailer, but the gameplay looks good.

The Shinobi franchise is kinda like Star Fox to me. Both have one truly amazing entry (Shinobi III and SF64, respectively), and everything else is solid or crap. If this is a continuation of SIII I'm on board once I pick up some version of 3DS.

The last Shinobi title I purchased was for GBA, and it sucked total asshole. Fingers (and asshole) crossed.

Dude, what? I don't know about the GBA game, but all of these Shinobi games are fuckin' awesome:

    Shinobi (Master System)
    Shinobi Silent Fury (Game Gear)
    Shadow Dancer (MegaDrive)
    Shinobi Legions/X (Saturn)
    Shinobi 2002 (PS2)

I like me some Shinobi as much as the next guy ... but

Legions and the 2002 PS2 game are "fuckin' awesome"?

We'll just have to agree to disagree on those.

Wasn't really interested in Shinobi on the PS2. This release doesn't really interest me. I'd much rather see Shenmue and Shenmue 2 HD and then Shenmue 3.
Everything in the above post is opinion unless stated otherwise.

I liked the Shinobi games on the Genesis, but the other ones weren't that great. I have Shinobi for the NES and the GBA version of Revenge of Shinobi, the NES one was somewhat decent but the GBA version was awful and boring. The new games don't really interest me, I'll wait to see what the reviews are like.

I figured someone would call me out on Legions. I know it's goofy as all hell, but if you look past the ridiculous live action sequences and the digitized graphics, it's honestly a really solid platformer. I think the cheesy live action sequences make it more enjoyable honestly because they're so hilarious.

As for Shinobi PS2 yeah I'll give you that one. It's nothing too impressive but I found it to be an enjoyable Japanese action game.

Legions was allright, at least the first few stages I played.

Then again, I'm a helluva lot more tolerant of FMV than most people in this forum. XD

The Genesis and GameGear Shinobi games are great, but I didn't like the PS2 game much, and never got a chance to play Legions.

The GBA one isn't very good, but it was produced under a deal with THQ that basically let them use whatever Sega IP's they wanted for GBA games. Sega had almost nothing to do with it. I thought the PS2 one was quite good; but the sequel (Nightshade/Kunoichi) not as much. Everything else was awesome except Cyber Shinobi.

In any case, this kind of reminds me of Ninja Five-O. Which is an amazing game.

Shinobi III is the only one I'd consider to be "fuckin' awesome." But that's not to say some games on your list aren't solid in some way.

I usually try to stay positive, but this game looks absolutely hideous. Unless ugly is now an art style. Maybe it is very very very very very very very early in development?
