As if I need to say it, but that news is both Justice and Rule.

I take it there's no early screens as of yet. Argh, another reason for me to get rich so I can buy Neo stuff...

Samurai Spirits Zero: The Return of Cham Cham

Well, maybe not. But I hope they'll put Shiki and Reon in it.

MMMMMmmm.. I vaguely remember SNK working on a new 64-bit edition of the Neo Geo and displayed a Samuari Spirits 64 (I saw a few screen shots). Whatever happened to this game? I imagine it became defunct with the closure of the neo Geo portion of SNK.

That game and it's sequel were released for the Hyper Neo Geo 64. Here is some more info: http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?...=9418&letter=S

Wow, this game will already be testing in Japan this weekend.

They added a couple character shadows at the site.

Some screens have been released at Magicbox:

    http://www.the-magicbox.com/game072603e.htm

It's seems like its been forever since the last one. It looks to have kept the style the same. I hope the gameplay is as well.

Gameplay write up is there...but what the hell, I'll post it up here too.

"Additional details on SNK Playmore's new 2D fighting game, Samurai Spirits Zero, have been revealed. The series is known as Samurai Shodown in North America. While the basic available actions are mostly intact, the controls and game system in Samurai Spirits Zero are significantly different from those found in the previous games in the series. The A and B buttons are used for weak and middle-strength slashes, and the fierce-strength slash is triggered when the two buttons are pressed together. The C button is used for kicking, and when combined with a joystick press in the direction of an opponent, it executes a guard crush throw. The D button is used for a number of purposes. Pressed alone, it executes a new action called meditation. Pressed together with a joystick direction, it executes a short jump, a ground roll, or a crouching position. The traditional anger system is still present in the game, but the system has been further developed with the meditation system. In the meditation system, characters can meditate and turn the anger stock into spiritual stock, which will allow the character to go into enlightenment mode. During the enlightenment mode, the game will run in slow motion. There is also a new sword power system in the game, in which the strength of slash attacks changes depending on the amount of sword power remaining. Each slash depletes a player's sword power, but the sword power gradually recovers as time passes by."

I've heard damage settings on this game are still pretty high..not to the extent of Sam sho 3, but still, stuff hurts alot in the game.

Sounds awesome. Hopefully this will silence the "recycled sprites!" crowd.

Let the fanboy carping commence! Where's Charlotte? And Basara? And, most importantly of all, Galford? I always thought of Galford as a Samurai Shodown mainstay, just like Nakoruru and Haohmaru.

-at least ten are new or new sprites with bust movesets (some exactly the same like suija a sogetsu clone with new sprite/stance and armbands as weapons or evil hao (who looks fucking mad!!) who has his bust movelist slightly modified and a completely new sprite that looks hell cool.
-there might actually be one bg for each character. some are new, some are ss3, some ss4 and some remakes of ss2.
-new characters are a kung fu/kungfu sword chinese guy (old) he even has a cool hongkong movie style fly move
-a girl with a bow who is the 4th silhouette.
-a huge deformed ogre thing which looks sorta tamtamish but about 1000x weirder.
-an evil nakoruru with a new sprite + new normals, she is with the wolf.
-rimururu is completely redrawn but seems to have the same moves.
-the new main char it would seem is a guy with about 4 swords strapped to his back that sorta reminds me of amano
-the kazuki clone/with new sprite and armbands as well
-returning chars are tamtam, charlotte, basara, kyoshiro, jubei, rimururu, hao, ukyo, nakoruru, genjuro, hanzo, shizumaru, kazuki, soggy, galford and gaira.
-new button layout and systems. there are three bars life (only one bar long, has a marker on it that indicates some line, dont know why can be blue red and yellow not sure why), underneath life is a green bar which seems to be a guardblock bar, not sure though. and at the bottom the rage/super bar.
-a = light, b= med, a+b=hvy, c =kick, d = wtf can do a hop with d, forward and back roll with d, maybe taunt, is also used for supers (c+d, universal motion of a fb)
-music seems to be rehashed ss2/3/4
-same throw sys as 4 (the push)
-damage is way off, this game seems a bit fucked for it.... i fought kyoushiro and i shit you not i was left with 5% after he did the frog tongue grab THREE TIMES, only 3 times = almost dead....
Looks like you don't have anything to worry about Kid Fenris.

Some of the new characters looks very good, especially the old dude, and the chick with the bow and arrow. Kazuki and Sogetsu's new sprites look very nice, supposedly they are based off of their SS64 versions. (they fight with no weapon) Evil Haohmaru looks well, Evil.

Looks like I'll be selling off a bunch of games I don't play so I can get both this and SvC on MVS as soon as possible.
