    Default Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions (3DS)

    From http://3ds.nintendolife.com/reviews/...dimensions_3ds -

Galaga 3D Impact isn't worth the price of admission alone, but it's miles better than Pac-Man Tilt and fills a certain shooter niche that Legions and the original overlook.

Speaking of the arcade originals, retro fans will be pleased to see that both Pac-Man and Galaga come complete with tabletop and cabinet art to fill in the sides of the top screen — although if you prefer a more pure screen then you can play without them too — as well as an optional stereoscopic presentation akin to 3D Classics on the eShop.
This review gave the game a 60%, and figuring that it says the only real saving graces for this compilation are the ports of the XBLA Galaga and Pac-Man CE, I suppose I can see why. For all its flaws (bad FPS in Galagas with lots of enemies, uses top-screen only with black side bars for the arcade games, no high score table, no save reset/delete like RE 3DS, Pac-Man Tilt is like Pac-Man World meets Sonic Spinball meets Super Monkey Ball), I think I may still go and buy this game when I can.

Anyone have first-hand experience with this 3DS release?

I picked it up Tuesday, Best Buy has it for $29.99. It's quite good in my opinion. I love the original Galaga and Pac-Man CE is brilliant like usual. The Pac-Man tilt game was oddly enjoyable too, you don't tilt the machine much, just enough to get him rolling and move some platforms. The new Galaga game is ok, I didn't see a major problem with tons of enemies, most don't seem to shoot at you anyway, it was just kind of boring. Regarding the 3D, when you play the originals, they made it so it looks like you're looking down on the arcade cabinet, it appears there is glass over the arcade screen, don't know if that makes sense but its a nice effect.

I'm interested. Maybe I'll pick it up next time I'm at Best Buy.

Thought I would never see the words "bad FPS" and "Galaga" in the same sentence. Kind of sums up the unnecessary complexity many games have today.

I don't think that calling it a FPS Galaga is accurate. It's like Star Fox but in cockpit view.

Strangely enough, TLA's often have multiple possible expansions, and in this case FPS is Frames Per Second.

My mistake, makes more sense now. Thanks for clarifying.
