Default Recommend the best version of Tecmo Bowl for me...

The original Tecmo Bowl, Tecmo Super Bowl? Wasn't there one for the SNES as well?

In any event, I have never played any version, but remember back in the day my college buddies used to rave about it. Does it still hold up as good today? Is one version better than another? Thanks !!

NES Tecmo Super is generally regarded as the bast in the series, though all of the games (except the PS1 game) are valid enough choices.

Tecmo Super Bowl for the NES is the best for me. I'm a huge fan. People keep updating the game as well so you can play with all the new teams and players if you want. You can even get the new rosters put on a nes cart here http://nesreproductions.com/

And if you have a DS, there's also that version... although being forced to sim every game you aren't participating in is kinda lame. But you certainly can modify the heck out of that game!

TSB for NES is the most played, most heralded of them all. The rosters have become legendary.

    QB Eagles. That is all.

The NES TSB is best. The Genesis version has arguably better graphics, but no player "photos" on player profile pages, and if you play versus computer, the Genesis is just way too easy to sack the quarterback every play. The SNES is probably about the same, but I haven't played it. Plus the NES TSB season was a year or two earlier, so the rosters were more classic.

I'll put in a defense for the SNES version. There is no flicker, graphically it is superior, gameplay is identical to the NES. Personally I liked Tecmo Super Bowl II on SNES the best of them all, but I would be in the minority there. Avoid TSB 3 and TSB on XBLA like the plague.

I have both the original and Superbowl version for the NES. For some reason I have never popped them open. I'm pretty psyched to start playing. Thanks for the info everyone, much appreciated.

It's been a while since I played both, so I popped them in and tried it out. NES version is obviously a classic, and it is fun. But the SNES version's graphics are better and it seems to be a bit smoother. I thought they did an excellent job at just updating the game instead of trying to innovate for the SNES.

I've never really played Tecmo Bowl either and I was wondering about this series as I love Joe Montana Football on the Game Gear (And Sega Master System), which I hear is basically Tecmo Bowl.

In the minority here but I liked Tecmo Super Bowl III for Genesis and I used to like original Tecmo Bowl for the black and white GameBoy.

The arcade version of Tecmo Bowl isn't very good. More of a simulation than the later console games. A bit on the slow side, but nice graphics/animations for a football game of it's time.

Tecmo Bowl for Gameboy is pretty good. Lacks depth(no real season mode, you just play through all the teams like a fighting game, you have to win to advance to the next team, if not you play them again.), and color, but is nearly identical in gameplay/controls to the NES version from what I hear. Also has a nice roster, 1987/88 iirc.

I have never played the original NES Tecmo Bowl.

Tecmo Super Bowl for NES is the best In my opinion. NFL rosters were better in 1991 than they were in 1993/94/95(rosters used in 16 bit versions). The player photos, the cut scenes were better, and the novelty of such a deep, playable sports game on such a limited system.
