Snatcher is worth a pretty penny on it's own. $400 is not an absurd price at all but it may be a bit higher than most people are willing to pay these days.

The correct power supply is far rarer than its price. Having that will attract interest among us informed users. Tho I already have a CDX. Packed with features for the size.

Quoted for truth. I cant count how many times I've seen an "authentic" CDX power supply on ebay and its just a Genesis 2 AC adapter.

I don't have an authentic one myself but got a perfect match from Radio Shack.

Yeah people try the dumbest things with CDX. ps1 and ps2 power adapters? seriously, can't anyone read these days?

What strikes me as weird is the apparent failure rate of US CDX seems higher than its PAL equivalent. Have to wonder if all that stuff factors in or not. May never know.

with this crowd, it'd go a long way to have a close up of the AC adapter

def. I'm curious now that I look at it because from that angle it looks different than mine. Mine says for use with the genesis cdx right on it. Was there more than 1 different power supply for the cdx or is it just the angle? Mine has 4 grooves on the bottoms halves of the 4 corners.

That's why I suggested showing the AC adapter. It looked a little weird to me.

no worries, no one thinks you're trying to mislead anyone.

The 2103 is a model 2 genesis AC adapter. I think it also works with a 32X.

It should not be used with a CDX. It will turn on but may damage the unit over time.

You can get a replacement power supply that matches the CDX from Radioshack for about 20 bucks.

edit: this is a neat link, explains everything Sega AC adapter related:

What makes it so difficult is there is no sega brand alternative. They released just one cdx ac adapter in north america. We're very lucky the genuine type is easy to identify.

    I didn't know Genesis 3 takes

    INPUT: 120V 60Hz 7W
    OUTPUT: 10V - .3 Amp

I haven't used it for a while, the Genesis 2 has

    INPUT: 120V 60Hz 15W
    OUTPUT: 10V - .85 Amp

    Would I be worried??

The Genesis 3 A/C adapter wouldn't be suitable for a Genesis 2 is all. Not enough current.
