Overrated games this gen

About FFXIII .... I still don't understand how any person that has played at least ONE rpg can love it. The game has a 20 hour tutorial and is quite simple to play, just a matter of learning when to change your paradigm with the enemy in turn ... and THAT'S IT !. Limited in all senses .... I expected too much from this game.

Are there a lot of people who loved XIII? It seems to get about an equal amount of hate/love but it's kind of hard to gauge things like that on the internet.

I thought it was okay, but I played it in chunks over 3-4 months, I was rarely compelled to continue with it more than an hour or two. It had some nice things about it and somewhat innovative things about it but you can say that about pretty much any numbered FF game, it just comes down to how good the execution is.

I'm not sure if I'd call it overrated just due to not many people praising it that highly but there are a lot of legitimate complaints against it.

Overrated yes - quite shallow too, but at least the 2. wasn't that bad, still shallow and overrated though.

Fallout 3 was the first current gen game I bought (not counting the games that came bundled with my 360, which I haven't touched since the first night I bought it because I got FO3 the next night) and kept my interest so long that it was over a month before I even thought about getting another game. Even after getting other games, it was still the one I went back to for quite some time, and one of the first games in a LONG time to keep my interest up enough to keep playing far beyond the 20hr mark, which seems to be where my interest level wanes a lot of the time.

I figured, "oh hey, Oblivion, Fallout 3 with swords!" and picked up the GOTY edition when I found it cheap at Walmart, but that one just didn't pique my interest nearly as much. I'm not sure I even made it to 20hrs in that one before moving on to something else.

As far as God of War III goes, you KNEW what you were getting into. the first two are essentially the same game in different locales. Same with the third, only prettier graphics.

My issue with God of War 3 had more to do with glitches and a few seriously imbalanced fights than expectations of new gameplay. I fell through the world a few times, which never happened in the first two.

I think Fallout 3 rocked. It rocked even more when I recruited Fawkes.

I think that Black Ops was terribly overrated. I hated that game, and feel like I wasted a LOT of time beating it on veteran.

I hope BF3 turns out ok. I was disappointed with the Beta. I think that if they don't fix the multiplayer that this could be one of those overrated fanboy games. BTW, I think that BF2 was great.

I played New Vegas before I played Fallout 3, and I did not like it. I ended up trying Fallout 3 and loved it. I then went back to New Vegas and still did not really like it that much. So, I guess to me, New Vegas could be one of those overrated games of this generation.

Fallout 3 was an amazing game. I found it to be one of the best games of this generation, and New Vegas was even better, IMO.

I like the open world of New Vegas. Fallout 3 had you going to subway tunnels to get from point to point. It really didn't feel like you could explore everything.

I can see why some would prefer Fallout 3 though, because I've put in nearly 80 hours with New Vegas and have no idea how to end the story. Fallout 3 was more obvious about how to end the game.

The appeal is more "online competitive multiplayer" than "war FPS". Competing online against other gamers will never end. As long as there are video games there will be people shooting other people online.

This isan't necessarily directed just at you but it seems like thats what half of some peoples posts on this site are. Shooters are super popular now and thats where the money is, just as platformers, SHMUPS, and tournament fighters once were and thats just the reality of it. Is it really necessary to post over and over and over again about how X person is just soooooooo tired of the next big shooter?

Seriously, this. This IS the 90's fighting game craze, just now people fight with guns against unseen opponents. But the reason SFII was a smash is the same reason Halo online is a smash.
