I never thought about this today, but what constitutes a numbered GTA game? Vice City and San Andreas seemed like full flegded members of the main series. Shouldn't they of been GTA IV and GTA V?

GTAIII and Vice City also had custom soundtracks. I think they even did similar things with the commercials and such, didn't they?

This feature dying out is much of the reason I've yet to buy GTAIV. I liked having my own music to listen to when driving (I'd have to constantly be bringing up the dashboard blade to do it on GTAIV) since the games never include anything halfway decent for music.

Yeah, take that with a grain of salt, I couldn't find anything with a little googling yet. Could be it was said about GTA IV before it's release, but I remember they sort of referred also to the future of GTA. Perhaps it's just my imagination...

I think it was because they were all the same game engine and they didn't want to add a new entry in the system until there was a significant difference, or something along those lines. I think I remember reading that in an interview somewhere, or it may have just been something speculated at the time, either way it makes good enough sense to me.

What was significantly different about GTA II, then?

I think it makes sense, too. But I have a feeling this upcoming game will be very much the GTA II or Vice City of its generation and will just offer more of the same, which will kill that theory if it happens.

Probably just another stillbirth of a once great series that should have put to rest one sequel ago. I'm not going to touch that after having wasted 50eur on gta4.

A snorefest? Wow, we really expect too much these days I guess.

I really enjoyed GTA IV after initially being disappointed. Mostly because it just didn't seem to control as smoothly as San Andreas did. It just felt too tight or something.

But I really got into it by the end and I'm *really* looking forward to GTA V - although I'll likely be initially disappointed again because the map won't match the scope of San Andreas or something (and I will again in all likelihood really dig it by the time I'm finished with it).

In case it's not obvious, San Andreas is still my favourite GTA.

Booo!!! Grand Theft Auto was fun back when #3 was new. Now it is an old, rehashed game with a different guy each time. Ima go scrape my gums with razor blades rather than buy this one.

I was reading that you're gonna be able to play as multiple characters in the game. Hopefully there will also be different city settings to?

that would be interesting. Kinda like how they did the expansions but all rolled into the main story.

Its been done in other games (where you'll be playing as one charecter and then the story switches to another to continue the story and back and ect ect ect). But i'd be interested in seeing what Rockstar can do to make this work better then in other games.

Really looking forward to the next game. My favorite is still Vice City - was kind of hoping they'd re-visit that location - oh well. I'd settle for another game set in the 80s though, there's so much to draw from in that decade.

GTA IV was good from what I played, but I never ended up completing it. I will, but it didn't hook me like the others. I still think there's a ton of potential left in the series and the team behind it is one of the best in the industry. This should be great.

What really made me play GTA IV the most was their level of detail to the city this time around. I mean yea there were some of your major land marks and stuff you can find in the games world that play out in its real life city counterpart

GTA IV i could actually play and spot all kinds of locations i actually saw when i went to NYC outside of the statue of liberty and down town manhattan. I mean i even found the mcdonalds i ate at (granted they are called something different due to licensing in the game but still all the lights and signs are there as the real thing).
    That really shocked me.

So i wanna see them do the same treatment to San Andreas game world now.

I would like to see a map that feels expansive, like SA. Although IV may have had a large map, you were still stuck in one city. Concrete jungles are fun and all, but there's nothing like trying to drive a tanker truck up a mountain and then jumping it off.

Also I think they should bring back the cheats. Having 3 printed pages of various wacky pedestrian, flying cars, etc make the game an absolute blast to play when you're sick of missions and shoot-everyone-until-you-get-shot.

    Trailer just debuted.

Back to Los Santos, and it looks like there's a lot more life in the city.

Would also appear that planes will make a comeback.

All in all, looks like a typical GTA game.

I'll be buying it day one.
RIP bargora, you will be greatly missed. That is how we do things on Giedion Prime.

GTA5 debut trailer looks great. Hopefully the game still plays on a modified Rage engine. I hope it has the either a better cover and shooting system than the one in Red Dead Redemption and sort of heavy feel on the cars like on GTA4 or the same.
Everything in the above post is opinion unless stated otherwise.

Rockstar definitely knows how to make a trailer. Problem is, the trailers can look so exciting, but the games tend to get pretty stale after the first 20 hours or so of gameplay.

Not that 20 hours of gameplay is anything to sneeze at, but usually at 20 hours you're only about 35% of the way thru the game. I've started every GTA with good intentions, played them for tons of hours, but never actually finished any of them. Always got bored at a certain point.

(of course, I can say this about almost all the huge open world games that have 40 or more hours of gameplay)

That's because they do stupid stuff like force you to take boring training, or build up a stat, or do lame escort missions.
