Looks like I get to start the new one this month. YAY
I picked up the Skylanders starter pack for the 360 today. Actually my wife bought it for me so that I would shut up about it lol

Batman Arkham City, Deus Ex Augmented Edition, and Dark Souls for about $75 thanks to Amazon's B2G1 sale and some leftover credit I had.
"I am way too lesbian for that shit."
Went to my favorite video game store in Salem MA called Game Zone. Talked to the owner a bit as I always do when I stop in there.
Found some really cool stuff but didn't feel like spending what he was asking at the moment and decided what the hell and bought this
Brand New (it looks opened cause i tested it out at the hotel i was staying at) FC Twin.
I bought it so I could test out all my NES and SNES games and not have to worry about wear and tear on my poor ole NES and since i don't exactly have a SNES yet (i know i know i am working on it).
With the deal he said i could get any 2 NES or SNES games of a select few walls.. looked through quickly and they were all generic games most of the interesting titles i had already. And i found these 2 NES titles. Bigfoot (what can i say i am a sucker for monster trucks). And battlechess (i love battle chess!!!).
When i tried it out.. Kinda ackward playing with the Snes style controller that the machine comes with when playing NES games but works just fine
on a side note. I asked him if he had a Version 1 Genesis power cord for sale.. He said no (3rd shop to tell me no on that). But he had one for one of the Version 1's he had laying around and showed me what i am looking for. So I am still on the hunt for the elusive Version 1 Sega Genesis Power Cord

Luis... another TG16?! And a Master System on top of that. Where did you find those? So jealous!
Oh well, I have my own epic find this month. It's only partially video game related though. Here we go.
Lite-On LVW-5115GHC+ DVD recorder
Features:
MP3/WMA playback
Dolby Digital Recording
MP4 video
DivX
VCR+
Gold-plated front panel AV input
Dual-layer DVD recording
I did a little testing. There appears to be little to no input lag. This will be great for recording game videos. $12.99 at Goodwill.

Thanks ^_^ But man that DVD recorder is pretty epic itself. I want to find one of those to record my gameplay on!
Visit my blog at www.retrogaminglife.com ^_^ You won't regret it!
Yeah, I bought this for myself but then I read that it was basically Warcraft II Battle.net Edition with some tweaks, and since I already own a copy of that, I'll resell it instead. Blah.
Test it again. I own a similar model to that (a bit older though) and tried to record some stuff, and it had some HORRENDOUS compression. It looked like an AVI from 1995. It worked fine when making VHS to DVD transfers, but games, especially stuff from PS2 onwards, will look bad. But it should work fine for simple 8-bit stuff.
Anyway. My finds for today?
N2O: Nitrous Oxide
Crash Bandicoot
$5 for both (down from $10), both are incredibly mint.
I found these at a booth and the seller said she wanted $5 each. I paused for five seconds and said "I think I'm gonna pass, so I'll just put them ba-"
"$5 for both."
"Fffffffffffffffff damn you!"
And so I bought them. Apparently some lady beat me to a sealed game a few minutes earlier. I've been looking for a copy of Crash 1 for a while, and N2O... well, I found a sealed copy of this bundled with a PC PS1 emulator, Virtual Game Station, but the seller wanted $15 for the pack, so I passed on it.
Stopped into Salvation Army at lunch and found a few games:
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (Wii)
Gauntlet: Dark Legacy (PS2)
Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows (PS2)
Gran Turismo 3 (PS2)
and a lot of sports games for $2.99 each!
Great except all of the discs were GONE! STOLEN! Needless to say I passed on these and took the empty cases to the cashier to hold on to for me. Why do they leave their games out on the DVD shelf??? <wimper...>
Anyway, what I actually DID buy from there were not games, but Manga:
Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures #1
Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures #2
Rave Master #5
Rave Master #8
Rave Master #12
Rave Master #25
Naruto #9
Samurai Deeper #5
Samurai Deeper #7
Samurai Deeper #12
All for .99 cents each in GREAT shape, plus today was 10% off day, so 10 books for under $10. Nice...

Can't take pictures right now (will try to get some) but picked this up at the flea market today on my way home:
Atari 2600 Jr.
42 games
Four controllers
Works perfectly
Many manuals and those mini-catalogs
$30
Needed a couple of the games and will replace the 2600 I use for testing games with this one since it's smaller.
Also picked up a few NES and N64 games for $1 each. Was tempted to offer the lady something for the entire lot (~75-100 games) but it would take me forever to get rid of them (somehow she had 20 copies of Star Wars Episode 1 Racer and 12 copies of Turok 2 not to mention the 10 copies of Rad Racer). Topped it off with a N64 for $5 and four boxed SNES sports games at 50 cents each. Figured why not on those.
It's also worth mentioning that one of the thrift stores I venture while visiting family managed to piss me off. I go in there and see 20-25 Sega Saturn games, including Guardian Heroes. Needless to say, I'm very excited and then I ask to see them. Guardian Heroes ... $45, Panzer Dragoon ... $15, etc. eBay prices for no guarantee. I really needed Guardian Heroes for my collection too but I'm not giving retail price at a thrift store. Defeats the purpose of being a thrift store imo.

I got an awesome turbo grafx 16 lot from kijiji:

- 1 turbo controller
- 1 turbo AC adapter
- 2 turbo RF adapters
- 1 boxed turbo booster
- turbografx instruction booklets
- Turbografx hint book (I already had volume 1 - this is volume 2)
- Kickass tg16 poster - rough shape but cool regardless
Games:
- Dungeon Explorer (case, hucard and booklet)
- Military Madness (case, hucard and booklet)
- Keith Courage (case, hucard and booklet)
- Keith Courage (sealed - case, hucard and booklet)
- Bonk's Adventure (misc. case)
- R-Type (complete with outer box)
- Ballistix (complete with outer box)
I'm pretty happy about this pickup
Does it make sense that the Keith's Courage is sealed without an outer box?

Indiana Jones was $4.99 at Goodwill; Rebel Assault was $3.99 at the Salvation Army the next block down. Both are still sealed.
At the flea market:
Street Fighter II (SNES) $20 (complete in box)
Donkey Kong (NES - original) $29 (inc. Yoshi's Cookie)
Yoshi's Cookie (NES) - with Donkey Kong
Xbox Console $40
Sudeki (Xbox - complete) $5
Sneak King (Xbox - complete) $15 (w/Burnout 3)
Burnout 3 (Xbox - complete) see above
I know I didn't get the best deal I could have gotten had I went to eBay or Amazon, but I actually wanted to just get a few SNES games (without the dust covers) so I could use the set of three dust covers I bought a while back without realizing I didn't need them!
I made the pilgrimage to the local flea market yesterday with that goal in mind. I got there too early and the place was mostly dead. I was about to give up until I spied a couple vendors who sold video games that I usually pass up because they want too much.
The first vendor had the usual stuff that was locked away in a case with no prices. I started getting prices of $25 for Contra (loose) and $20 for Mike Tyson's Punch Out (loose). He had Street Fighter II (SNES) complete for $20 so I bought that and moved on.
Another vendor had a bunch of largely forgettable games for the newer systems but also had the classic stuff. Finding nothing in SNES land, I decided to look at what is in his case (locked of course). I noticed Yoshi's Cookie (NES) and Donkey Kong (NES). He wanted $35 for Donkey Kong and $10 for Yoshi's Cookie. I was ready to walk away. He dropped it down to $30 for Donkey Kong but wouldn't budge on Yoshi's Cookie. I was just going to get Yoshi's Cookie but he didn't seem too thrilled about it. (It probably had to do with the scuzzy vendor who bought a Halo edition of the Xbox 360 for $100.) I offered $29 for the pair (knowing I was insane for doing so) and he went for it.
I noticed the Xbox as I was about to leave. He wanted $45 for it and was going to give a game with it for $5. He tested out the system and it was working but the game I selected (Dead or Alive 3...I needed something to impress my girlfriend with afterall since she loved Dead or Alive 2 for the Dreamcast). We succeeded by picking a different game. I got Sudeki for $5 and decided to see if anything else was good. He wanted $14 for one game but bargained and said he would do the three games for $20 and would give the Xbox for $40 with a controller and the hookups. I decided to go for it. I spent a fortune (well, more than I planned to anyway) but I am happy.
I ordered a dust cover for Donkey Kong (since it didn't have one), the manual for Yoshi's Cookie (can't find the manual for Donkey Kong online....yet), the DVD kit for the Xbox, a component cable for the Xbox, Dead or Alive 3 (Xbox), and Midtown Madness 3 (Xbox).
I am going to go back today and poke my head around. I may even go to Goodwill even though I have very little luck.
On a side note....if anyone has the original Donkey Kong manual they want to part with shoot me a pm!
