It would seem that this console generation's Collector's Editions trumps all others generations combined. I have run out of room!

U GAIZ JUST DONT LIKE CHANGE , (builds a artificial foundation here)
Do you take any of them out of their box?
I've got my Helghast helmet sitting somewhere and I've got the GTA lockbox filled with random stuff.
I agree I am running into the same issue. Which are your top 4 this gen?

So, I posted this on reddit as well yesterday, and after being told I should have more oldschool stuff, I posted my retro room http://imgur.com/a/YOHnI lol, 333,000 views and 500gb of bandwith viewing in 1 day really makes me appreciate broadband.
I saw the CE for Skyrim in Best Buy last night. I was stupefied at how big the box was for it. I loves me Collector's Editions as much as the next person but I think publishers have gotten out of hand with them; at least in regards to their obnoxious dimensions. I don't even mind an over-sized box but not when it's bigger than the one the system came in.

Impressive!

You should put on a puppet show with the Halo 3 helmet and the Killzone 3 helmet, like a Punch & Judy type thing.
Charge people to see it and use the profits to buy more display room for your special editions.

They are a pain to store, and I don't even have any massive ones (outside of Japanese limited editions). I like the collector's editions that are the same height and width across the front as the standard cases. If just the spine is wider, it doesn't matter, it can still fit nicely with the other games. If they don't match with the games, then I take the case out, and the box and other contents gets buried in the closet.
I was thinking the samething as I looked at that picture and noticed all the ones that are currently on clearance right now.
Yeah some of them are just ridiculously too big. They must think we are all rich and live in these huge ass palaces. I definitely appreciate a nice collectors/limited edition but many of the ones this gen aren't worth the initial asking price or space inconvience.
I have managed to make room for the ones I have but where I've really run out of space is for my penny strategy guides. Those could fit in an entire room themselves and they keep growing because of the newly discounted guides every year.

I guess retailers had to pick up the slack from all of the space that was being taken up by the different "Hero", "Band", and Tony Hawk games. I mean the Wii was doing alright with all of those shovelware shooting games in the oversized boxes but the PS3 and 360 needed some obnoxious packaging love.
Speaking of penny guides, you wouldn't happen to have a spare guide for Ace Combat 6 do you?
