the PS3 uses the exact same connection nas the PS2 and even the PS1. No need to buy an expensive component cable - any PS2 component cable will also work.

or, simply go with an HDMI cable. You can find them super cheap on ebay and its just one connection instead of five.

Got one for $10 new, gold plated. Just wanted to know if anyone used them and wanted to know what they thought of them before opening, thanks.

The TV only has component input. Do you mean the picture quality isn't any better than Super/video? Thanks.

Yea, the price of the component cables for the ps2/ps3 is stupid compared to HDMI cables. I actually just bought some component cables for my PS2 a couple weeks ago and the picture quality is noticeable and was worth the cost IMO.

Keep in mind if you've got a very old or weird TV, that HDCP is mandatory at all times for any video and/or audio from the PS3 HDMI port. You cannot and will NOT get any signal what-so-ever should that check fail. Not even the XMB appears.

I know from experience. I've got a PC monitor whose HDMI input is defective.

It's totally dissimilar from 360. Which only enables the "DRM" when required, like during movie playback.
