the PS3 uses the exact same connection nas the PS2 and even the PS1. No need to buy an expensive component cable - any PS2 component cable will also work.
or, simply go with an HDMI cable. You can find them super cheap on ebay and its just one connection instead of five.

wow i've goten cheaper HDMI cables at frys / big lots / tj maxx
i've never found the component cables to be all that good on any ps2/ps3 system though
Keep in mind if you've got a very old or weird TV, that HDCP is mandatory at all times for any video and/or audio from the PS3 HDMI port. You cannot and will NOT get any signal what-so-ever should that check fail. Not even the XMB appears.
I know from experience. I've got a PC monitor whose HDMI input is defective.
It's totally dissimilar from 360. Which only enables the "DRM" when required, like during movie playback.
