    Default Official Sega Saturn Magazine

Hey guys, does anyone collect these mags? I been trying to hunt them down...I know they weren't released in the states, but they were in the UK and Japan. Also were more issues released in Japan than the UK? I believe 37 issues total came out in the UK. Also generally what do they sell for and are they hard to find? Any info would be appreciated.

Best mag ever, period. I ranked it #1 on my personal top 5 list

    see http://www.rvgfanatic.com/7464/96301.html

just a brilliant, brilliant magazine. high quality from top to bottom. their previews and reviews and SHOWCASES were the real deal

I own issues 4-37. The Japanese ones are not related to the UK one. Unfortunately, SSM is hard to find and pricey when it is found. Good luck.

    Truly, a legendary magazine

BTW, I had the pleasure to interview former SSM writer Gary Cutlack and former SSM editor Rich Leadbetter. It was a true honor and you can read my Q&A session with them here:

! That was a hard one for me when I made the list nearly 5 years ago... which to put first... I love Super Play but SSM is slightly better on overall quality IMHO.
However, I love SNES more than Saturn. Forced today to keep just one publication, it would be Super Play without hesitation. Thankfully, I can keep both

Super Play had this most awful guy Tony Mot who knew nothing, therefore out of the top ten for starters.

Thanks for the info! I can't wait to get my hands on some of these. Since the 2 mags are different from Japan and UK, that gives me more to hunt down

When I lived in the UK I used to own quite a few OSM, but since I never collected for the system, I never kept them.
I usually picked up all gaming mags in UK, used to burn GBP200 a month on mags. Once I got over 2500 magazines I stopped.
Kept around 2000 gaming magazines, but nowadays I don't buy any anymore.

Oh wow, thanks for posting a link to that. Nostalgiafest! I really miss those near phonebook sized EGMs. What a time the 90's were, what a time.

You're welcome. And indeed it was, indeed it was. What a time. All you had back then was your imagination, a couple color screenshots, and the words they wrote. In fact, that's all you ever needed. Pre-internet '90s was indeed a special time for gaming and for gamers alike.

If you want even more nostalgia, check out the 13 minute Youtube video of HappyConsoleGamer -- they did a vid specifically on GameFan memories. Crazy nostalgia trip

I have all 37 issues. It is an excellent magazine, well worth tracking down. In fact, I also have digital copies of all 37 issues On my IPad!

Another thing to keep in mind, is that before it was renamed to Sega Saturn Magazine, it was just called Sega Magazine. The final 10 or so issues of Sega Magazine (before it changed names) have a large amount of Saturn coverage.

They were released in the states. I picked issues 32-37 at either Electronics Boutique or Incredible Universe.

Also, since we're on the subject, Retrogamer Magazine had a cool article a few years ago, in which they interviewed the crew from SSM:
