Lightbulb Hackers Can Easily Lift Credit Card Info From a Used Xbox [Slashdot]

zacharye writes "Using nothing more than a few common tools, hackers can reportedly recover credit card numbers and other personal information from used Xbox 360 consoles even after they have been restored to factory settings. 'Microsoft does a great job of protecting their proprietary information,' researcher Ashley Podhradsky said."

I read this, but it seems to be referring to the HDD than anything else. If one were to get rid of it, just sell the console without an HDD, for instance.

But what about those with flash memory? That's a tad hard to delete personal info from there.

Another reason to buy points/XBL codes somewhere and enter them. I know I don't have to worry about anybody finding CC info on mine.

Microsoft banned me from using my Credit Card. Should be a blessing, I guess!
