    Default Some laptop problems

Sometimes when I'm using my laptop, there are video issues. I dropped it on the pavement before, so that is the source of the problem. The screen with look a bit more pixelly than usual and there will be a white line at the top. Sometimes there will be flickering lines around the middle. If it gets really bad, it almost entirely fades to white for a few seconds, like a Movie Maker transition. Fiddling with the position of the screen usually fixes the problem, but what to you think is causing it? Besides the fact that it was dropped, is it an issue with a cable or a chip?

When I dropped it, one corner of the laptop became loose. This is where the power cord goes. The cord is loose when plugged in. Occasionally the power light and charging lights will blink on and off. A fix for this would be nice too.

My S key fell off too, but that's the least of my problems.

It is an Acer Aspire 5551-2384 apparently.

Sounds like some loose connections. I would start with checking the condition of the cabling and connectors in the affected area. Check the cables that go between the monitor and the motherboard and power supply, as well as their associated connectors. Same with around the power jack. The power jack is probably broken and thus providing only an intermittent connection. Same with the monitor. Whether just the connector is broken, or the pcb itself is broken will dictate further action.

Could be a LCD detachment, the same problem that kills DMG Gameboys.

I'm thinking of taking it to Staples to get it fixed. They have done good repairs for me in the past.

Highly unusual. I changed to Ubuntu today and now the screen issues are gone! I'm confident that it wasn't a problem with Windows.

EDIT: I was right! The screen issues are back!
