Default Vectrex Console Help needed on testing and pricing it.

Alright guys as I stated in the June Finds thread I found in a local pickers store a Vectrex video game console.

you know those things (this isn't the one i found)

The guy wants 60 bucks for it.

I see on ebay they are going for alot more.

I have not tested it in any sort of way. He has no games. 1 Controller. The stick on it seems to wanna lean to the right a hair but still feels pretty tight which is odd to me. All the buttons push fine no sticky button feeling.

How do I go about testing it to see if truly works without games..... That if there is at all a way to do so.
And if doesn't work. I would imagine its not worth the 60 dollar stamp. Is it worth anything at any price if its not working maybe as a parts piece or restoration project?
If there is a way to check to see if it works and it does. Is 60 dollars a good deal or should try to hit the guy down a few notches to say 40 or 50 bucks?

    Thanks for the info guys

I replied in the finds thread before I saw this. You can just plug it in and turn it on and Minestorm should come up. With that you'll easily be able to test the monitor, controller (all but one button), and power/volume knob. It is a good game, too. If the joystick isn't centering, it is probably a broken spring, and there is a well-established cheap fix for it.

If you're buying it with the sole intentions of flipping, keep in mind the shipping costs you'll have to pay. If you want to keep it, $60 is a good deal even if it needs a little TLC.

it should be noted that the picture is of a European Vectrex. Is that a stock photo or the actual unit? It would likely command a higher price if it is indeed a European model. I know I would pay more personally.

edit: just read the op and noticed it was a stock image. My mistake.
