There's at least 6 or 7 known copies of the Genesis game last I checked, and these were for the second Blockbuster Championship. You could choose to play either the SNES games or the Genesis games for the competition. I used to try keeping track of them as they sold between collectors but it was getting a bit difficult as nobody else was trying to keep track of who had a copy and who it got sold to.

Good luck on the auction, if it sells for your asking price more power to you.

The bottom line is that they are both hard to come by, and if video game memorabilia is your thing, then you would be willing to pay for it. There are collectors that do daily searches for things like this. I posted the ad on ebay Sunday night, and by 9am Monday morning, there were already 5 people who signed up to watch the bidding, before I made this original post. The bidding should get intense Sunday night..
The truth is, nobody knows the value until someone actually sells one. You think it's worth XXX, I think it's worth X. Neither of our opinions really matter because, A) you're selling, not buying, and B) I'm absolutely not buying, so I have little to no affect on its market value either. The bidders (if there are any) will determine the price. And if there aren't any bidders, then you have a pretty good indicator that the price you set isn't realistic.

Also, watching doesn't mean bidding. I've listed plenty of items over the years that racked up dozens of watchers only to have nobody bid. How many people do you think were watching that gutted, VGA-graded Gold NWC cart? I bet thousands. It's been listed at least 3 times now with no bidders.

I personally think the starting bid isn't too unreasonable, but certainly on the high end of it. It's a piece of history, and though not as popular as would be a similar item from the NWC, is still worth a fair amount more than the $20 mentioned above.

As a heads-up, I bought a city-winner's NWC trophy for $500 (years ago, before I had a house, family, and real expenses), so I wouldn't expect this item to pass the amount you are asking.

I would say $100 would be a better place to start.

The reason why I am selling mine in the first place is because 2 weeks ago, one of these plaques showed up for the first time in years and sold for $400. Also, he didnt have the Champions Card, I do. He also didnt go through ebay for some reason and sold it through a private forum instead with less traffic.

Ive had 3 offers via email in the last few days asking me to cancel the auction and sell the complete package for anywhere between $175 and $250.

All I know is that things will get interesting around 9:58pm EST this Sunday night for the auction.

btw, thanks for the well wishes from some of the posters in this thread.

Sidebet on how long it takes for this to be moved to the "Everything Auctions" subforum where it can finally die.

I think this will be an interesting auction to watch. Now I wonder if those people who emailed you about canceling it and selling it for $250 will actually bite.

    36 hours....

Not being around and having a bit of a life really does make things hard, or the fact that no one flagged this for mods at all. I'd have shuffled it sooner.

    Bullshit.

By "interesting" you meant nothing would happen, and the thing would just sit there looking worthless?

Wow. Someone BIN'd for $125. I'm surprised they didn't even bid on it, since it started at $1 bidding.

But then I would have lost the bet!

I doubt any money will change hands.
