Maybe try any local indy game stores in your area, the ones in my area always have the most random crap sitting around.

As xelement5x mentions in his previous comment, maybe you could forego even bothering with the battery.
I'd suggest finding a cheap PSP Go dock and some composite cables. Then just play it on the big screen. No need to even have to worry about the battery then. $2.96 for composite cables at goHastings. Comes out to $5.59 after shipping. http://www.gohastings.com/product/GA.../279082680.uts
So your suggestion is that he should only play his very compact portable system in a totally non-portable way? That's ridiculous. He'd be better off buying a regular PSP as at least it would have UMD compatibility and an easily replaceable battery if he's primarily going to keep it docked.
The PSP Go also has bluetooth which allows you to tether a DualShock 3 or Sixaxis to it and basically use it like a console when combined with the dock and component cables. I personally enjoy playing all my PSP games that way.
I've also heard that the component out on the Go is better than the 3000 but I can't personally compare the two.
By the way, on the topic of UMD vs the digital downloads I have a lot of legit PSP titles but since I don't feel like repurchasing what I already I own just to play it optimally I use other methods for games on the Go. Putting custom firmware on the Go is very easy and then I can just sit on my couch and play PSP games on a larger screen with a controller.
I know it's been over a month since this thread was started, but I just noticed that DealExtreme has a listing for replacement PSPgo batteries at $4.30 US. Only problem is these don't appear to include a plug, so there'll most likely be some soldering involved in the installation.

a little unrelated but i just won a pspgo on ebay and i have a question, is it possible to link more than 1 dualshock 3 controller to the pspgo? like to play 2 player games?
