It should work if you wire it correctly, The connector is the same type.

They are indeed.

The NES adapter outputs 9vac where as the Genesis wants 9vdc. Don't make that mistake.

Thanks all for the input. got several power supplies that the barrel connector is bad and need to repair. Getting them open was fun but finally figured out how and what to use. Thanks again!

Picked a two pack from Radio Shack. Going to try them later. One question is the copper outer wire negative and the single strand wire positive? Kinda new to this. Thanks!
