Default Why Does This Have Value?

I was going to make this a topic just asking why Power Rangers Super Legends on Playstation 2 is worth upwards of $15, since by all logic, a Disney made power rangers game should suck and not have value, but why not make this a topic about games we wouldn't think are worth anything?

I'm going to start off with 2 ps2 games, first being Falling Stars.

It's a crappy "RPG" by agetec. I did some digging, and supposedly it's one of, if not THE, worst rates PS2 game ever released.

So I'm Guessing it's a Novelty to own something so horrible?

Still clueless on that power rangers game.

The only retailer that I remember that ever carried Falling Stars (including preorders) was Game Crazy. It may have been a bad game but it is and always a genuinely rare one.

Best Buy had Falling Stars in their value bin for awhile. Came close to buying it too.

    Ultimate Pro-Pinball Xbox

I'm assuming it just has a really low print?

... yeah, it's not like the series was seen by millions of kids over a timespan of a decade, right?

    Hmm worth looking into.

Wasn't that PAL exclusive for Xbox, and PAL/JPN for PS2?
    Not sure about PC...

    This one REALLY surprises me.

    WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP POKER NINTENDO GAMECUBE

Again, I can only assume it had a very small printing, because the PS2 version only goes for $5.00

The complete original series is getting released on DVD soon by Shout Factory, with classics like this, Captain Planet, and Jem I'm losing faith in the company.

What's sad is the Amazon page for the Power Rangers release, it's only available for preorder but there's already 28 5-star reviews for it. It's great to review a DVD before being able to watch it, it's not like anyone cares about possible transfer problems or other potential errors with mastering or manufacturing.

I'm talking about POWER RANGERS, not Super Sentai.

Yes I know they share footage yadda yadda yadda. Doesn't matter. Power Rangers is its own thing and has its own fanbase (which may overlap with the Sentai fanbase anyway.) The US version of the show began in 1993, so that's fourteen years worth of WESTERN fans (US / Europe / Australia / South America) when it was released. :P

yea but those kids grow up and sadly power rangers are those characters from child hood that actually are forgettable unlike say transformers and gi joes which is where i was going with this notion.

These kids grew up and may have children of their own... another point I should've mentioned.

Fair point, there are more than a few fanbase splits among other Japanese series, Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura/Cardcaptors and Samurai Pizza Cats come to mind.

My copy came from Fry's in Wilsonville, Oregon (that's also where I snagged my copy of Samurai Deeper Kyo for the GBA a couple years ago). Still don't know why I bought it, other than for the novelty value.

Both this game and the Power Rangers game demonstrate one of the main rules of game collecting - rarity, not quality, usually drives prices. People aren't paying $150+ for a copy of Action 52 for the quality.

There is and always has been a huge fan following of Power Rangers/Super Sentai. Filled with both young and old people. Not to mention most people that actually grew up with MMPR still see it as nostalgia. The megazords alone from the 90s are worth tons of money.

He's obviously talking about the US series, which only dates back to the mid nineties.

But way to be "that guy".

That particular game is very popular amoung power ranger fans as it brings many of the previous seasons together and brings many of the popular rangers and villans togethter to fight with the new rangers (stuff like tommy the green ranger and lord zedd show up). as far as power ranger games go, it's pretty decent overall.
