Default Sony kills SCE Liverpool (formerly Psygnosis)

Sad news. I loved Psygnosis's work.

Also, this is the third Sony studio in a row to get shut down after making a major Vita game. Good job, Sony.

Little Deviants was a piece of shit, so I don't count it as a major Vita game. Both Wipeout 2048 and Unit 13 are good, though.

As much as I like Wipeout, 2408 being the best one what with its own original content and then all content from HD/Fury, Sony is losing money. Wipeout has been one of the least selling Sony franchise this gen and with two million Vitas out there and hardly any other games, you'd expect 2048 to sell more than it did. As little as 2048 sold, it tells Sony something. Wipeout has hardly any fans and by continuing to develop the games, they're just wasting money.

The only good thing to come out of this is that we might see a new IP from them. Whether some of the team members get hired on to create a brand new IP or whatever. Probably isn't going to happen, but I'm hoping for something that would leave as much of an impression on me as Colony Wars did for the Wing Commander fan in me. I liked the Wing Commander games, and my first time playing Colony Wars was pretty much .
Everything in the above post is opinion unless stated otherwise.

One of my favorite developers from the old school. I took my xbl and pan handles from their name. This sucks.

Its a real shame and I hope they all manage to to find work soon. I never remember owing any of the older Wipeout games but 2048 on the vita was really fun outside of a few obligatory "lol no walls!" tracks they decided to throw in.

Its weird the phrase it that way but your totally right, it is the third studio to close after a major vita game. Hell Nihilistic might be next with how Resistance BS was scored and how COD:BO Declassified showed at Gamescom...but I think few would really feel bad about that.

There is also a rumor floating around that they were developing two PS4 games, one was another wipeout title and another was some sort of stealth action game.

I really hope they somehow get their Psygnosis IP back and start reviving or releasing their real classics.
A Psygnosis Amiga collection could be the greatest compilation of all time.

    Agreed 110%. I'd love a Psygnosis/Amiga compilation.
If you can't do it with 8 bits, you don't need to do it!

If this actually was announced, I'd probably have to change my underwear.

I was hoping that maybe Assault Rigs would get the remade in HD treatment for PSN. Guess those dreams are dead...
