    Default Musha cartridge black screen

I realize I originally posted in the wrong section, I apologize for that if a mod could please delete it in the classic gaming section.

So I just got an incredible deal on a really rare game, Musha for the sega genesis for $4 only to bring it home and I can't get it to work. I tried cleaning it with alcohol and a q-tip then with an eraser, got ALOT of gunk out but it still won't work. I put the game in the genesis and the screen flashes and its just black. If I hit restart the produced by sega.. etc screen comes up but again just black. I have been going at it over and over but i'm limited because I can't get the cart open. I just ordered a security bit and it will be here sometime this week. What bothers me is the screws in the back look rusted and i'm hoping it wasn't damaged by water. If it was is this game unfixable? Are there any other cleaning methods that have worked for you guys on really dirty games?

The game is 100% fixable. Worst case the mask rom is dead and it will need to be replaced by a 27c400.

I picked up a 32x today and out of curiosity I plugged in MUSHA and it worked perfectly the first time every time I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Does that narrow it down to the pins? What would cause it to work in the 32x but not the genesis by itself?

Dirt. Either the cartridge is still dirty or the cart slot in the Genesis is dirty. It's best to thoroughly clean both.

Any advise on dealing with the rust/corrosion all over the EPROM pins?

Remove the electro cap and clean with something like DeoxIT. After your board is nice and clean put in
    a new cap and enjoy

Not trying to hijack this, but do you have any ideas on how to repair a dead Tengen Genny cart? Looks mint with no apparent issues, just doesn't work.

You will need to troubleshoot it first and locate the problem.

Remove the pcb, clean it well and change the electro cap.

Check continuity from the cart edge connector to all the chip pins. Some may be Rom only and some may have addition logic.

Check the chips for dead or stuck pins with a probe.

Verify the Roms, Ram, and Logics
