Is there anyway to distinguish the versions by just looking at the box, cart or ROM serial?
I could try to beat it again, but that may take a while since I am so outta practice.

I doubt it. I've got a US box and cart (no booklet), just wouldn't know what to look for...
Neat part about this game is its translators actually expanded the international version's ROM size to make it dual language.
Rather than save mfg cost by replacing Japanese.

Lum fan.
What's different? Did they remove the nudity at the end or something? I can see them doing some shit like that is the thing.
Good thing you can run through the entire game in about 15-20 minutes if there isn't a way to tell the versions apart visually.
Right there's 3 versions. Early copies the ending girl becomes totally bare.
Japan's original without English dialog.
Western uncensored.

It appears there was a fourth version.
Japanese censored

Technically sure. What I meant was all censored carts include both languages.
(For that matter I don't know if either version with English was released in Japan)

I have a complete copy of this game and have wondered the same thing. I have never been able to beat it and therefor haven't seen the ending, so i'm not sure which version I have.
Maybe it's time to bust out the Game Genie and see if there is a code to skip to the end.
If a god is willing to prevent evil, but not able, then he is not omnipotent. If he is able, but not willing, then he must be malevolent. If he is both willing and able, then why is there evil? If he is neither able or willing then why call him a god?
That looks even racier than the original. It looks like her she's wearing a nightie with her boobs out.
at first I thought, 'wow, really?', but then I realized that it was one of my first and easily my most played Genesis game, so beating it is first nature for me. I had a friend that played the game faithfully at my house and it took him YEARS to beat it. And I recall another friend from Jr. High who used to talk about how difficult the game was because he thought the character moved too fast.
It's definitely harder than Strider, Valis III, or any of the Shinobi games.
