Can get a couple of SMS protos for $40 or so each (Alien Syndrome and Penguin Land). Both are EPROMs with the labels in hand written Japanese on the chips, and dot matrix labels on the front and back. Worth it?

Ask this first = they for real?
$40 for 2 proto's..
$40 for 2 proto's.. You need to ask?
Fear your thoughts because they become your words
Fear your words because they become your actions
Fear your actions because they become your habits
Fear your habits because they become your character
Fear your character because it becomes your destiny
Therefore: Thinking and nurturing positive thoughts, at any point in your life, can change your destiny.
*sigh*.....it's NEVER anything unreleased when it comes to SMS protos. WHERE are the UNRELEASED SMS game protos?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
NE-way, sounds like a good deal. They might be kiosk demo carts, but they'd still be worth the $20 each.
No no...$40 EACH!

maxlords, yeah its worth it IMO. i was going to get those same one's when i had the spare cash (they're from a guy named matthew, right?) i have 2 sms protos that came from this guy and they are real, so i'm sure these are too.
Yeah, same guy...just wasn't sure if protos of released games were worth it or not. It's a good chunk of cash to spend when I don't really collect protos....Originally Posted by nesman85

Not really, unless you really like the specific games they're protos of, IMHO. Only the unreleased protos ever get expensive.
yes it would be good. then sell them later if you don't want/need them
I would say that $40.00 is about as cheap as you are gunna get when it comes to ANY cart based prototypes. Provided is has a casing and some type of label.
I dunno if you would make a HUGE profit but I'd think that at the very least you would get your money back.

I would love to see a proto of that Godfather game that was supposed to be released for the SMS appear. The Godfather for crying out loud!! I wonder what the gameplay was like in that one?? Do you get to take out Fredo?
American NES games left to beat: 3
Last 3 NES games beaten: Romance of the Three Kingdoms II, Nobunaga's Ambition II and Gemfire
(Updated: 7/21/10)
Why someone hasn't marketed the classic ganster movies for NEW games on the current systems is beyond me.
Even crappy games with names like "Casino" "Scarface" "Godfather" etc would just fly of the shelves.

Where are all the unreleased SMS protos? Released in Brazil! Or on Game Gear.Originally Posted by Raccoon Lad
I have an SMS World Grand Prix 'proto'- it's got eproms with Japanese type face on the chips, but it has a production label. Anyone?
Aside from Fire & Ice, Battlemaniacs, and Woody Pop, I can't think of ANY that made it to Brazil or the Game gear.
As for most of these SMS "prototypes" I have a strong suspicion that they were kiosk demo carts, or magazine review copies.
Aside from Pat Reilly Basketball, I can't think of any unreleased, or unfinished SMS protos.
i think that might be the case with the one's with production labels. magazine review copies are prototypes.Originally Posted by Raccoon Lad
