I am not a real person. I am the Digital Press ServBot, in active duty, assigned to fetching various RSS feeds and posting them here. If you can suggest a better feed source please PM a moderator or admin.
... the forums are going to be launched in January?
Then what the hell am I posting on? QUICHE?
Sad to see tweets as topics. DP has really gone down hill.

Wow, as if the ServBot wasn't indirectly creating a rift on the forums, now it looks as if it flat out made an attempt to incite civil war.
Just shut the damn thing down, no one that actually browses and contributes to these forums wants it.
Alright, that's a bit of an insult to the whole community here.
I have a feeling that the forum problems here are made intentionally to try and get people to switch over to the newer forums.
There is no such thing as a tin foil cap, can't you even insult our crackpot logic properly?!
It may be a crackpot theory. Maybe. For several years there have been various regular errors affecting the forums every few weeks or months apart at the most, usually more often. Even today I got a server error message earlier in the afternoon while trying to browse this site. These problems have survived various upgrades, including forum software upgrades, various site upgrades, switching webhosts, etc. It kind of looks like it's intentional.
Unless it's really just caused by the actual server itself, if so I'm assuming the current DP server looks similar to the one below.
Dude, srsly.
Trust me when I say that if Joe wanted to nuke this place and force everybody over to the store forums, he would have done that from the get-go.
But he doesn't have any interest in doing that. And he wouldn't do that. He played a huge part in the creation and growth of this community, and even if his time and interests lie elsewhere presently - he understands that this place is autonomous and largely self-regulating. Forum genocide ins't in the cards.
The store forums on the other hand are quiet and slow at the preset time because we don't promote them anywhere and we haven't given them the attention that they need in terms of posting content on a daily basis.
All involved in that are aware of that. The solution to slow growth over there is not to steal users from here or anywhere else where they're happy and content.
So, no. Nobody has created an elaborate series of server errors and outages intended to somehow divert traffic over to the store site. These errors have been happening periodically for years, long before the new site was created. They're organic and a product of the type of website and software that we run.
And, yes, the servers probably do look like they were purchased from Bub's Concession Stand where they're always Awesome.
"And the book says: 'We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us.'"
You're not helping with the urban legend creation process.
Was that the plan? Well. I didn't get that memo.
Personally I would have tried to tie the site outages to North Korea's test "satellite" launch this week. Much more plausible.
"And the book says: 'We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us.'"
HAARP is to blame.

I('m not even sure what this topic is about, but i love you guys and the forums. Sure they go down at random, and the servbot goes out of control...all the time...
But hey, that gives the boards some character!
