    Default Anybody know a good inexpensive soldering iron to use for nes and snes games?

    Any advice as to what Iron i should get to change out batteries? Any help will be appreciated as I have some zeldas and others I need to change.

    Hakko 888 with a larger sized chisel tip...since I am assuming your using wick and want a lot of heat transfer.

    $70 bucks is alot to spend for something to replace some batteries, not to mension a bit overkill.

    wouldnt want a super hot soldering iron because the battery may explode before its fully attached so i suggest getting something from radioshack, no more than 20 watts:

    I have several of these hanging arround and they work ok for this sort of little thing:

    for bigger jobs i have something like this:

    except mines a 60watt model, i needed something for the lead free solders in newer things

    Yeah I use that same Radio Shack soldering iron and it works just fine. Has a switch from 15w to 30w. Seems to get the job done ok for cheap.

    I have done more than a couple of these and had to get the batteries with the tabs as I never wanted to heat up the battery. Just food for thought. cr2032 battery with tabs are what I used with a cheap radioshack soldering iron, flux and solder. Worked great.

    Yup, this. No need to spend a ton, especially if swapping batteries is really your only plan for the iron.
