Default Loose connection on SNES controller?

OK, I've had my SNES for a while now. While I don't have a nintendo official pad, I do have an inter-act superpad which works just as well. However, I've got one problem...the connection is loose. If I don't have the cord tilted just the right way, the connection will just cut right out until it's readjusted. The only other controller I have is extremely uncomfortable to use and has a miserably short cord. Local gamestores overcharge out the ass for a ninty official AND are all sold out of them ($12 for a SNES controller? ridiculous.) so I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to fix the connection on this one.

You could try to find where the break in the controller cable is. If it's near the end you could crop the end off and resolder the wires back into the controller. It would obviously be shorter after doing this but it wouldn't lose the connection anymore, personally I would just look for a legit controller as most of the aftermarket ones I've tried are terrible. I literally passed on two official SNES controllers yesterday bundled together for $4.99 as I already have enough of them, they'll turn up eventually if you keep an eye out for them.

I'm pretty sure the break is right near the controller itself and nowhere near where it plugs in, so that may prove troublesome. I guess I'll just tolerate it for now and hopefully nab a SNES controller later...I had two of the jr SNES controllers a while back, but sold them for $8 with my no-sound junior...wish I just sold the jr itself, now.
