I first met Ralph in 1983 at CES, but we've been good friends since 1998, after he invited me to visit him and his wife. His wife once called me her surrogate son, and that's how I feel about him, like a surragate father.
In 2000, I wrote an article about him that EGM published, and it introduced him to an entirely new generation of gamers. In 2005 I edited and published his book, Videogames: In The Beginning, in 2005.
Last year I was privilaged to attend his 90th birthday that his family gave him. Although he is 91, he is still very sharp, and when you're with him, you don't feel like you're with a 91-year old.

91 huh? We should all be so lucky to see such an age, let alone still be doing what we love while we reach it.
