I thought you could tell by peeking into the cart slot, but maybe that is for a different revision.

I don't know my exact model, but I have the old, heavy SNES with the discrete sound module and these games play fine. I do have a SNES model 2 to test, but it's boxed up right now.

Unfortunately I don't =( If I find one this week I'll pick it up and test it =D

Ok I'm bringing this one back to the top again.

Zing, you can kind of, as the final two revisions if you stare into the cart slot to the left and right you can see black plastic instead of metal around the pins frame, but it's still a guess which you got.

I just bought a 1CHIP system a few hours ago, a DK set totally like new and for a stupid cheap local price (keeping it.) I tried out the two games that supposedly are broken, and so far, they work just fine. I played all of stage one for both Pocky & Rocky and Super GnG and both didn't screw up.

What's the deal with this talk of the system not being nice on those two games? Is there more than one part schematic/layout going on for the 1CHIP setup? I took two pics of the board with the notable chips present if it's needed.

Finally got my hands on Super Ghouls and Ghosts. Played the first level without any problems. Pocky & Rocky 2 plays fine too. The PCB is different though so maybe it's not susceptible to the glitching of the first game. How far in do you play SGnG to get any problems?

Why would you want to play Super Ghouls n Ghosts anyway? The Genesis version was much better. (Only half kidding!)

It's probably the game's programming and not the PCB that causes glitching. Also, P&R2 was made two years after the first game, so it was probably tested on later hardware.

Except the same program runs perfectly on the SD2SNES, according to Mr. Snucker. It must be the PCB.

Yup. I dumped my copy of the game and ran it on the SD2SNES. This is really a funny thing going on, haha.

Since this is alive again I posted a few days back about getting a 1CHIP system and for me both SuperGNG and Pocky & Rocky work on mine with just a slightly odd banding effect to the far left/right sides of the screen. Any idea what's going on here I can run them other than just being super lucky?

It could be the way each system is built. I believe there is also more than one 1CHIP revision. SGnG plays fine so far on my system, and P&R only glitches on the first screen when you power on the game.

    NECRO TIME!!!!

    Ladies and gentlemen.

I just tried playing Pocky and rocky on my 1CHIP-03. I cannot make it past the title screen.

The game has no sound and crashed on the start menu. Text is all garbled up. All other games i tried work perfect on my 1 chip-03. ( I do not have GnG so cannot say for this one)
Both the cart and the console connector are clean. I have tried numerous times, same result each time.

The Same Pocky&Rocky works perfect on my all my older SNES.

I dont know about you guys but I find this pretty funny.

So does that mean my SNES jr wouldn't play those games?

Wasn't sure if this will help of just confuse the issue more.

I have two SNES Jrs and both play my copy of Super GNG just fine. However, what I do have to do with both of them is I can't seat the cart firmly. If I do, then the games won't load up at all. I have to pull them up a hair after inserting them and then they come up and play just fine. Both have had their contact pins internally cleaned so I think part of the issue with garbled graphics and the like could be that the physical mounting of the cart connector on the SNES mini/jr might be off just a bit and causes issues with several games due to PCB thickness differences and where the plating is located on the pcb of the carts.

    Just a thought?

So after forgetting about my own post I get out Pocky and Rocky yesterday and pop it into my SNES jr and am surprised it doesn't work. It brings up the copyright screen, and then the Natsume screen then goes blank. I did get it to go to the title screen twice but it had and audio buzz and gave a blank screen when I hit start. I tried pulling the game up bit by bit but same results.

After being worried for a little bit I tested with a nasty yellowed SNES I have listed on Ebay SN 16159161 and it works perfect.

Now that i got my super everdrive, i had the chance to make a test myself, and at first it didn't load the credits black screen and the natsume screen was all fucked up, but then i pressed select and the rest of the game run fine, then i reset the flashcart and load the game again by just pressing start, and now it work without any graphical issues.

and yes, my snes is a SNES mini (SNES Jr).
