Since it's "touch to select", it's probably going to be a bit more complicated than a big switch. I would guess it uses a series of analog multiplexer chips and possibly a microcontroller. Or it's just a bunch of mechanical push button switches.

It's an Atari Video Game Selection Center. The unit is basically a giant box with forty-four 2600 games in it. They were apparently used as retail demo units and are now quite rare.
