Are you talking US Sonic 1 SMS? If so, be ready to fork over around $300-500 for a complete copy. IIRC, it's the rarest SMS game around.Originally Posted by segafan1989

The hard part about US Sonic 1 SMS is once opened, you can *never* be certain its contents are genuinely US of origin. Swap in a PAL cart/booklet and nobody would know.

I'm not looking for it to be complete. I just want the cart. I didn't know it was rare. PAL carts won't work on US Master System's? I didn't think it had a region lock.
No. The UPC sticker is what's rare. Sega attached it to imported copies from Europe they sold here (why I said "origin").
Master System regions, while inherited by and compatible with Genesis, were not used for lockout.
A few games have glitches at 60hz.
Some others will display English or Japanese language mode.

Mega thanks to theclaw for selling me Ninja Gaiden. The SMS version is much better than the NES.
Yeah for Sonic 1 SMS just search ebay.co.uk and look for folks who ship internationally. It's pretty damn cheap to find over there, the only difference for a "US" version is that UPC, but this has been rehashed many times.
