    Default Was this deceptive?

this was one of my auctions.

I placed it a while back and I really thought that I was clear about what I was selling which was empty game boxes. Well, the buyer received the package and flipped out and left negative feedback without even contacting me first.

I had no intention to fool anyone. I've actually bid on and won empty game boxes myself in the past. I buy them to turn loose games into boxed and complete games. I thought that others would like some of the many duplicate boxes that I have to do the same.

My problem (other than this buyer) is that I still have another 200+ empty Genesis game boxes that I was planning on selling in the near future. Now I'm having second thoughts because people just don't bother reading item description.

I know that empty boxes for sale has been a hot topic recently but again, I thought that I was pretty clear. Here's aquote straight from the item description

"Below is a list of the game boxed included in this auction. (m) means you get the game manual as well. Remember, this auction is for game boxes only. No games are included. "

    What's everyone's thought about this.

Leave him a negative for not reading the auction. I wonder if you can contact ebay for a feedback removal on this, as it pretty much is an unjustified negative.

I agree the bidder is definetly a moron. The auction clearly says that no games are included.

I agree that it says that games are not included, however, there are points in the auction that makes it sound like they might be included.

While, the auction title clearly states 'genesis boxes', here's where IMO you get yourself tripped up:

    1.
Some of the games even come with the ORIGINAL GAME MANUALS as well.
Complete videogames are very desirable to true game collectors yet increasingly difficult to come by. Get in on this one while you still can.
Ouch, you said games instead of boxes. That really hurt you, especially if bidders don't read the entire auction like they should. Saying "complete, get it while you can" leads some bidders to take out all the words inbetween and makes them read between the wrong lines.

    2.

Below is a list of the game boxed included in this auction. (m) means you get the game manual as well. Remember, this auction is for game boxes only. No games are included.
Change that 'd' into an 's' and that makes a big difference. I know it says "no games included" but you just got done hyping up complete games, and you have to consider/remember that quite a bit of negative feedback exchanged is sometimes from bidders who have a short attention span that don't care to read the entire auction word for word.

I have to agree. The two points outlined above suggest other than "just boxes" and overtax reading comprehension by sending a mixed message.

What are the chances you think of working with the bidder through SquareTrade to expunge the neg?

This is 1/2 opinion needed and 1/2 shameless plug.

I'm gonna try it again because I still have tons of these lying around that I need to clear out.

Do you see anything within the description of this auction that can be considered misleading or deceptive in the least? I want to make sure that there are no misunderstandings this time.

I think it's clear this time. Also, adding the adjective "empty" in the title is wise. That way, no one can claim that they thought games were included. Therefore, if someone leaves neg. feedback on the claim that they thought the auction included games, you'd probably have less difficulty convincing Ebay that the neg. feedback was unjustified.

But in the end, it all really boils down to people not being F@#*ING MORONS.

    That's what eBay really needs.

Just remember that the above sentiment applies equally to both bidder and seller.

Hey, I didn't qualify my statement. You can take that as a given.

Dont let this idiot get you down. I buy empy game boxes/manuals all the time (when I find them for resonable prices), and I know alot of other people want them also.

I guess when you sell anything, you are gonna have the chance of having to deal with an idiot. God knows Ive had to deal with alot of em.
