They have not released the firmware update yet.

Previews do not appear to have strictly resolved issues with screen tearing or resolution though - it does appear to correctly crop the screen now on any HTDV with nothing lost on the top/bottom. So, techincally if you want to run it in 4:3 format you can do so on the TV's internal settings and no space will be lost on the top/bottom as it currently is.

Also, it appears that they're adding Neo Geo memory card functionality in the update.

They're trickling out details on their Facebook page, but overall I think that it's not going to be the fix-all that users had hoped for.

What will be interesting is if the sd cards can be used on a cracked vita with final burn alpha running on it. But well see how long it takes for the Vita to ever be cracked. Hell, the NEO GEO X was cracked 2 days after launch.

    Um, no for several reasons.

    1. Vita doesn't use SD cards.
    2. The Neo-Geo X game cards have the SD card pins rewired in a different order as a security measure, so these can't be read in a standard SD Card reader and standard SD cards can't be read in the Neo-Geo X.

Also, would you even need these Neo-Geo game cards to run FBA roms in a cracked Vita?

Final Burn (and the Neo-Geo X device) use the same FBA roms that are already readily available all over the place.

I have a modified/rewired microSD adapter that allows me to run about 90% of Neo-Geo games on the Neo-Geo X (same compatibility issues as the Dingoo FBA emulator), all you basically need to do is format them with the same FBA conversion tool that you'd use for a Dingoo.

Ok, i thought vita used sd cards, sorry for the confusion.

And, I said the thing about running these game cards in a Vita because then you could collect that cool box and play these on a better system.

If the firmware update comes, and I can get a normal handheld version for $50 at this point, then Ill get one. I agree with stuff the Game Sack guys said. The system is just not worth it at this point.

Yeah, at the MSRP it's a bit much. I got the gold set for less than that and from the perspective of a collector it's certainly a neat device, I love the aesthetics of it - and the joystick is USB so it works fine on PC or PS3 for most things.

Coupled with the rewired SD card adapter I'm satisfied with my purchase.

But if you're looking for a highly authentic Neo-Geo experience via handheld or console, obviously this isn't the way to go.

Price is my only issue with it. Love to get the thing but being over $100 doesn't do it for me for a simple handheld dingoo modified knockoff with 20 games only set inside it. I think all things considered the bigboy box with Vol1-5 (15 games) coming up shortly for around $80 is a nice deal In the arcade it wouldn't take that long to get to that price sinking quarters against those titles.

Yes! You guys just made my day. I gratefully managed to track one down at a Gamestop 70 miles north of me, but I personally thing it was worth the drive. I'm glad to see SNK/Tommo? still supporting it.

Yes, Tommo decided to put all the roms that they are/were planning on releasing on three separate game packs on one card.

Pricey, but not a terrible deal if you want to go completely legit with licensed games on this, especially considering the Neo-Geo Pocket style snap case packaging.

How? According to Amazon, they aren't released until late June.

This item will be released on June 25, 2013.

I just meant I was excited that they are following through with more stuff for the X. I picked mine up back in December, and I've enjoyed it, even ordered a second controller for it, but I kinda expected them to release the unit and call it it quits.

I expected them more than a 50/50 chance to bail too. I've just learned never with stuff like this to say it's a done deal until 'they' bail. The stuff they spoke of at Tommo, employees coming online to get questions, help, suggestions and then applying it back to their R&D dept got me thinking they were serious. I'm happy to see they've done this package coming in June and $80 isn't completely terrible given you get 15 games in that clamshell and breaking down the price per game per quarter to go at it, it wouldn't take much time racking up a little over in $3 worth of plays on each one of them on average.

I still don't like the price of the primary unit, had it been easily hacked to run other dingoo like stuff that would appeal to me more and I'm not even into modding systems.

pretty cool stuff I'll grab one and certainly the physical title release(s) when I can afford it (hopefully it will be cheaper I agree pricing is kinda high but hey its neo geo and by those standards its a bargain!) not the same as the real deal though makes me miss my aes and library of 20 games (seeing those cases on my shelves was always nice. Glad they went for that affect with packaging!
