I don't know but it's crazy cool!! Was probably a give-away at a party-type event or something!!
I just can't think of an event where these would be given away. Maybe E3 or some sort of internal release party?
That's the oddest thing i ever seen. Why? anyways its probably from some event somewhere..
It's probably more along the lines of an employee gift. Sony had a bunch of cool stuff that were available to their employees. (Martini sets, sushi dish sets, margarita sets, etc.)

Toss it up on ebay and see what happens.

Huh, what a strange item to find at a thrift store. You'd think that anybody in the industry would be aware of how limited an item like this is and that collectors would be interested, so you'd think they'd have the common sense to toss it on eBay if they didn't want it anymore and see what kind of cash they could get.
I've seen Sony toss their name on all kinds of crap, including a George Foreman grill and a my personal favorite terra cota wine bottle holder. It was all for employees and some may have even come from catalogs that they could order it from.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

Of course it's your favorite, Stu. Of course it is.

My guess is that they made some promotional items for their staff and the employee no longer needed the item. For $10, I'd say it's pretty good.
Sony even produced their own bottles of Wine, fully alcoholic.

Anything is possible with gaming companies. That Activision kit was definitely a promo item given to an employee, Ive never seen another so Id say its safe to assume that kit is RARE. Any markings on the utensils? If you can figure out who made this set for Activision Im sure youll be able to find out the entire scoop about it.

Thanks for all the input guys. Honestly, it dosen't pull any heart-strings with me so I'm going to polish it up and throw it up on eBay. It dosen't take up much room so I might put some stupid number on it and just sit on it for a while and drop it little by little. Im sure there's someone out there that will stumble along with that "gotta have it" wallet.
