    Default Used Memory Cards

Long story short, I just picked up a used PS1 for cheap, mostly for my youngster who loves motorcycles, and the game Moto Racer 2(even though he just holds the gas button and can't grasp steering yet).

I guess the place I bought it from is not important but I'll mention them anyways because when I asked the young lady(sitting at her little workstation and seemingly couldn't muster up enough energy to get her ass off her chair so we were basically hollering at each other from across the room) if they had any PS1 mem cards, she replied "they had none and I would have to wait until someone brings one in"(while I stood there staring at 2 of them thru their glass casing). But 2nd and Charles pathetic customer service is not important.

When I brought home the (non-available)mem card and checked out what was on it, I came across an odd mix of gamesaves still on it. And I got to wondering. Most people don't take the time to delete their saves when they trade their shit in, and the stores that buy used accessories certainly aren't going to do it. What kind of saved games have you found on your used memory cards(or console memory)? Stupid topic, I know and don't care.

This is what I found on this one:
    IHRA Drag Racing(Camaro?)
    Crash Bash
    Crash 3
    Crash Team Racing
    Chess
    Roll Away
    MLB 99

I picked up a box of assorted video game junk from Goodwill last week that included a PSOne system and 2 memory cards. I don't have a suitable AC adapter to test the console, but I went to try the memory cards out and was stumped with one of them.

The Sony brand one worked fine. The Gamestop brand one in a semi-transparent blue shell wasn't detected by the system. When I took a closer inspection I found that someone actually removed the board itself from the case... so it was just a plastic shell with nothing in it. That made me wonder why someone would take it apart and bother to hang on to a useless empty shell.

I've gotten so many used memory cards that I can't remember, although I bet many still have the files on them. Pretty sure I've only ever seen files from the most popular, mainstream games. Nothing notably obscure or unusual.

I've found my fair share of memory cards in thrifts and I normally don't pay them too much heed. The only one I really remember for PS1 was some save for a golf game that looks like it had 120+ hours of playtime on it.

I had a PS2 Memory card with some corrupted save in it too, so I could never get the full space out of it. It was an official Sony one, it just had a memory block that wouldn't delete. Since there is no format option in the PS2, eventually I just used FreeMcBoot to format it and it's worked fine ever since.

I've never bought a used memcard, but this sounds similar to back when you would rent a battery backed up game and find someone had named all the characters "PENUS"
