    Default Enjoying old Adlib/SoundBlaster music

Might post this on the VOGONS forum in a bit too, but was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for enjoying the old FM synthesized music from many of the old DOS games. In particular, I have the .lds files from Tyrian which I currently listen to using the AdPlug plugin for Winamp, which is mediocre. There's got to be more accurate OPL emulation out there, as is the case with the C64's SID chips. Any advice or links would be appreciated.

Also thinking about buying some old SoundBlaster cards off eBay and seeing what I can do with a USB ISA slot adapter.

I dont think you need an ISA->USB adapter, I was under the impression that new Soundblaster cards can play legacy content.

Personally, I scour usenet for ripped tracks from old DOS games as mp3/ogg/flac/whatever i find. Almost anything can be found on usenet.

AFAIK, only the old cards have real OPL chips, giving you the best sound. Rips/recordings of the real thing are probably my best option, though I was hoping there would be an alternative.

I was never a fan of the FM synth music, despite growing up with it. I bought a $260 Soundblaster AWE32 for wavetable synth despite having no job and hardly any money. I was about to buy it from CompUSA when a random customer nearby informed me it was cheaper at Sam's Club across the street. I had no membership, but he offered to buy it for me. We met up in the parking lot, walked in together, and bought the card. What a great guy to do something like that for a 18 year old stranger.
