    Default Audiosurf Recommendations?

Steam is having a 48-hour sale on some game called Audiosurf. Looks like a Guitar Hero-style game, but it uses your own music. It looks interesting, and it's only $2.49 right now. Is there anyone out there who knows about it or played it that can recommend it?

I used to love that game. Until the leaderboards got so full of cheaters that it killed anything resembling fair competition. :\

I'm not that interested in competing on leaderboards, moreso just playing for myself to see how it reacts to my music.

I bought it a couple hours ago, figuring $2.49 is a small price to pay for an experiment. I like it, though I imagine -- like most Steam games I own -- I'll never come close to nailing all the achievements.

I haven't played it in a long time, but I remember having a great time trying out different songs to see what kind of levels they produced. I think the most fun I had was probably with Pwntendo by Venetian Snares.

It's pretty fun. Worth it at $2.50, I bought it when it was $20. Try playing "Hocus Pocus Live 73' " by Focus and enjoy.

I played it a bit but never at any really serious level, just for fun. The track I probably enjoyed most was 'Ain't Talking 'bout Love' by Van Halen.

The best song I ever played on Audiosurf was Beeton Tracks from the Blast Corps soundtrack.

I remember there was a lot of fuss over the game when it first came out. The menus and interface seem primitive by today's standards.

Has there ever been such a thing as an uncrackable leaderboard? I haven't seen it.

There's always cheaters. But the devs just don't give a fuck anymore. They never even bothered to fix the bugs in the game, I don't think it's been updated since... wow, 2008 according to my file dates...
