Good NES puzzle games

So the space shooter thread got me thinking, what are some of the better puzzle games on the NES. I love this genre and was thinking about picking up Lolo 3 sometime in the near future. I need other suggestions, is Kickle Cubicle any good?

Qix was always a fun game IMO. Pipe Dreams as well.

I remember picking up Kickle Cubicle, as a random purchase of a game I didn't have, and ending up giving it a lot of play. If you're looking for a puzzle game that in many ways is similar to the Lolo series, Kickle Cubicle would be it.

Yes, Kickle Cubicle is good if you're interested in Lolo-type games.
(though I played through the Japanese version of Kickle, which is more difficult)

I was surprised to find out Puzznic was originally a porn game (but of course the console versions are not). Surprising, it is good without that feature.

"Kickle Cubicle" is Nintendo's answer to "Pengo", so I'd highly recommend that title.

For NES puzzlers, I'd also recommend "Palamedes". For Famicom puzzlers (plus adaptor), "Palamedes 2", "Flipull", and "Quarth".

Dudes With Attitude is pretty unique, and worth a look. Trolls on Treasure Island is basically the same game, but I think it has different stage designs.

Quarth
A reverse Tetris using a Spaceship SHMUP style to fill in the Tetris blocks. Released in multiple platforms in Japan as well as in the Arcades, the U.S only got portable versions on the Gameboy and DS. Sometimes you can find this game on a multi game bootleg cart relabled as Shoting Bloc such as on the Supervision cart.



Tengen Tertris
Mandatory mention due to two player mode, also on bootleg carts relabeled as Tetris 2.

Yes it is, and Splash Lake for the TG-16 CD is also fun in a similar vein.

As has been said, Palamedes and Quarth. Both excellent puzzle games based on fairly obscure arcade games.

I've always been a fan of the final NES release, Wario's Woods. Weird thing with that cart though, every single one I've ever seen has the top of the label peeling, what's up with that?

Wario's Woods, Tengen Tetris, Dr Mario and Lemmings were my go to puzzles. I'd throw Yoshi's Cookie in there, but I always found it too easy and just would shut it off eventually from boredom.

I always wondered that too, for some reason Wario's Woods always seems to at least have a screwy top flap part of the label if not worse. It's like they started to run out of label glue for their last game and just say f'it and put it on thin.

Alexei Pajitnov's Hatris always amused me as a kid.

Also, Pipe Dream. Although players of BioShock may really start twitching if you start playing that one.

Hatris is a lot of fun. I also like Krazy Kreatures.

Yeah, Krazy Kreatures is the best puzzler that's not a Tetris rip-off to appear on the NES...

Ab old bump, but I've been enjoying a lot of import puzzle games lately. Shi Kin Jyo for Famicom is an excellent block pushing puzzler in the vein of Lolo. I wrote up a bit about it in the Import Mania sub forum awhile back. It's good.
