    Default October 2013 Finds

    It's the first time I get to start one of these threads. Found some stuff today.

    At Value Village;
    2 Speak and Spells for $2.99 each plus tax
    1 Speak and Read with travel case for $2.99 plus tax
    Japanese Bomberman 64 with Ultra 64 converter cart for $2.99 plus tax

    At Salvation Army;
    Pokemon Pearl complete in case for $2.99, tax included

    At Dollarama;
    Bromwell High DVD set for $2 plus tax
    Chaotic Volume 2 for $2 plus tax
    Manon: Volume 2 for $2 plus tax

    I got lucky with the N64 stuff as it wasn't priced with the video games, it was with the toys. I'm sure it would have been more otherwise. Picked up the DVDs because they seem to be expensive on Amazon, I'm not sure what I'll do with them yet. I guess I could have started this thread a few days ago as I had other finds then too.

    I just had to edit this because I misspelled one of the DVD titles.

    I just got back from Seattle, and with many thanks to MetalJesus's Google Map of the retro/classic game stores in the area, I cut a swath through the central and northern region and acquired some neat things, at what I (being from the DC area), consider pretty reasonable prices.

    The stores I hit:
    Game Guru (second location, apparently) - Fairly hit or miss here. They had a few nifty things but their prices were no different than I'd have spent on eBay on a bad day. I bought Dragon Warrior and Robocop there for way more than they're actually worth. Not because of any collector-value but because Dragon Warrior was a game I loved so much as a kid that I bought it from my elementary school classmate for $5 way back, and I wanted to have a boxed copy again. Robocop was a fond memory for me because it was one of the earliest games I bought with my own money. $9.99 at Toy Liquidators in Pigeon Forge, TN.

    I paid $25 for Dragon Warrior and $20 for Robocop there. I also found a copy of NES Volleyball (the old black-label) for 7 dollars. I never see it in the wild so I picked it up on a whim.

    Video Game Era - This store was a bust. The guy was super friendly, but really, his prices were pretty high and he didn't have anything I desperately wanted. I wasn't about to drop $14 for a loose copy of Spider Man: Return of the Sinister Six. I generally get leery when someone doesn't put price tags on their stuff, and this was no exception.

    Another Castle - Now THIS was a store I could sink my teeth into (and I sank my wallet into). The staff were friendly, talked with me about my purchases and about various video game lore and youtube reviewers, and just were overall wonderful. Also their prices were pretty damn fantastic. If I had needed it I could have picked up a plastic Playstation rental case for 7 bucks. As it was I spent a lot of time in there and also playing their well-stocked arcade.

    I picked up:
    SMS trackball "sports" controller - $12.99
    NES Wireless Controller by Acclaim (boxed) $14.99
    Exodus: Journey to the Promised Land (box, manual, original sleeve) $10 (roughly, I think)
    Final Fantasy Mystic Quest $10
    Action 52 (genesis, loose) $59.99
    Bomberman 64 - $15.99
    Paper Mario - $39.99
    Double Dragon 3 (to complete my trilogy) $10

    Pink Gorilla (Their newest store) - I had a really good time in here, too. Not as much of a selection as Another Castle but certainly a lovely amount of import carts for Famicom, SFC, and then import Saturn, PS1, and Dreamcast.

    Picked up:
    Gremlins 2 (NES) - $7
    Pipe Dream (NES) - $6
    Donkey Kong 3 (NES) - $13
    Inspector Gadget (SNES) $10
    Animaniacs (SNES) $8
    Intellivision AD&D (boxed, manual) $4
    Bleem! For Dreamcast (Gran Turismo 2) $2
    Sneak King and the other Burger King XB360 games, $5/ea

    Overall, I feel really good about this trip! I picked up some oddities and things I want for conversation pieces in my collection (the Action 52, for example, even though it's not the truly infamous one), and I didn't spend more than I thought these things were worth (in some cases I spent much less!). 'Tis a good time.

    That is a lot of discs, might work on another console?

    This time I kept a price limit, not more than $5 (excluding tax). Blade DVD sealed. Music CD isn't intended for me.
    Weird to find Asian version Tenchu Shinobi Taizen, says "printed in Hong Kong". I don't expect another. Too bad the insert got wet.

    Lum fan.

    Default Yard Sales 10-4&5-13

    Sega Genesis Games & & Wii Zapper - 5
    Pokedex - .50
    Everything Else - 5

    Asked about games and the Sega Genesis games were brought out which were mostly good for cases if anything and took my offer of $5, all of the boxed Genesis games are complete. The Pokedex was asking price. Everything else I found out at a yard sale, .50 per PS1 & 2 per PS2 games and I don't even know what they were asking for the DVD but they took 5 for what I got. The Power Stone DVD is sealed with some holes in the wrap, Dark Cloud 2 & Tetris Plus are missing the manuals and In The Hunt is disk only with the rest being complete.

    Saturday Flea Market..

    The Day of the 360 and Xbox Systems
    I saw more broken 360s ...and old Xboxes in one day then ever.
    Prices between $70.00 to $100.00 for a Slim...all untested 360 systems or no hook ups included.

    I was dropped off at the flea market with my oldest Son.my wife took the van and went shopping..My goal was to not buy anything big or heavy off the bat as I didn’t bring anything to wheel the items around in..
    I run right into a vendor I know and he has an Xbox system..I always check these as I’ve scored modded, debug systems etc. for cheap..
    $5.00 I didn’t buy it because I didn’t want to carry it..

    I don’t buy xbox systems to sell,a vendor friend sells them so I but them in more of a trade item.
    The next vendor I also know, she sells most things for a -20dollar,so I just could not pass up the books and plus doll item for $10.00 total..UGH.these books are heavy and dual bagged it’s breaking.
    Games $1.00 Each,not scratched.

    Now I’m on the hunt for something to carry these books in..Cart,shopping cart, luggage with wheels,Baby Carriage..So many people are pulling around these such things and I feel like an ass struggling to carry this heavy bag.
    Each vendor whom sells such type items is asking $15-20 for used baby carriages, rusty shopping carts.the heck with that I’d rather carry my stuff.
    I didn’t give up..
    I come up to another vendor I know and he has 5 xboxes $10.00 each..that is too much to carry and a bit much to pay for untested systems...He also has a PSP with games,no charger..I recently picked up two PSPs that I use so I don’t need it ..He wanted $100 with six common games .no charger, never knew if the system worked, dead battery..
    Next vendor sitting on a silver Nintendo SP with a few basic carts,in a soft carrier..He wants $125.00 and has had it sitting for months..
    Old PS3 Tape over the slot $150.00

    This bag of books is now tearing into my palm.the back is ready to rip,I’m looking for lone blowing around bags..
    I spot this bike..OHHH this is what I look for .
    $25.00 and he has a cart for $10.00.I offer $5.00 and now I have a fold up cart to pile stuff on and wheel around..

    This bike Needs work, but this is my thing.I fix these bikes up...I’ll have this bike, running and shined up in a few weeks...already bought a new charger for $15.00 shipped.
    http://youtu.be/WOyqm119RKw

    $5.00.DORA 4 Wheeler .I have the charger,it took a charge and works.
    http://youtu.be/SrYQguyFXrE

    ]

    So Now I have a cart to pile stuff on..but I never went back for the Xboxes.
    I spot a 360 with HD and Xbox.$20.00 for the Two...I need some Xbox 360 Parts Systems.

    Other

    $10.00..I have two of these

    Earlier today, I managed to snag one of the last copies of this LE at my local Gamestop:

    -Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Gamestop Limited Edition

    Once I locate a Link and Zelda figure, the stage will be set for their final act!
