Playstation one controller with small circuit board attach

HI, only way I can describe this, it is a standard psone controller with a wide white cord which is attach to a small computer board which has additional area to place other plugs and such, marked BEAGLEBOARD.ORG SERIAL 23092362175, strangest item I see , any info on this would be great, again came from former sony employee.

I'm pretty sure the attached circuit board is from [ http://beagleboard.org/ ]. I'm guessing whoever was using it was using the PlayStation controller to play games or control the other computer programs running on the circuitry. So basically you got a 2-for-1: a PS1 controller and a mini-PC.
